for the ensuing year.
Charles "Wooster, proprietor of
the Forksville coal mine, met witha
serious accident last week; acci
dently a spark of lire fell into an
open vessel containing blasting
powder. It flashed up setting Mr.
Wooster's clothing on lire and burn
his hands and face very badly. He
began removing his clothing to put
out the lire, thereby burning his
hands seriously. Some of his lin
ger nails came oIT and all of the in
side skin of his hands. Mr. Woos
ter had no one with him at the time
except his 13-year-old son, and he
was obliged to come home before re
ceiving any care, lie walked home
from the mines, a distance of be
tween two and three miles in great
agony. Dr. Woodhead was sum
moned and he is now inproving as
rapidly as •can be expected.

hundred Austrians employed in
construction work in the East Holl
idaysbury yards of the Pennsyl
vania Railroad Company, were
guests at tlu> 1 marriage feast last
night, of two fellow-countrymen,
Frank Barbas and Bara Fraezink.
An Austrian band escorted the
wedded couple to a banquet hall,
where two hogs, one cow, thirty
chickens and S2OO worth of beer
were served to the guests.
The festivities have been in pro
gress for twenty-four hours, and
tire giving the town a taste of "life
in old Vienna."

lof Odd Fellows, assembled recent
ly at the Orphans' home they es
tablished three miles south of Sun
bury, seven years ago, dedicated a
a church and broke ground for the
erection of one of a group of new
buildings which, when they are all
constructed, will represent an out
lay of 845,000.
Recently the association pur
chased an old I nion church, occu
pying a half acre of ground, adjoin
ing the 170 acres owned by the
Odd Fellows. The church wasre
niodled and is one of th» prettiest
in one of the most picturesque por
tions of Upper Augusta township,
Northumberland county.
When the new buildings are
finished and the treasury warrants
it.the original structure will be va
cated by the orphans, who will en
ter the new building, while aged
Fellows and wives will live in the
old home.
The Semi-annual convention of
the Laporte Boro and township Sun
day Schools will be held at the La
porte Baptist church, Saturday Aug
ust 4th. Alternoon session at 2
o'eloock, evening session at 7:30.
The Sunday Schools in this associa
tion are: Laporte Baptist, Laporte
Methodist, Laporte Protestant Epis
eopal, Cherry Grove Methodist,
Nordinont Evangelicat.
The visiting <1 'legates will be en
tertained by the people of Laporte,
and -visitors from Sunday Schools
outside the township will likewise
be most cordially welcome.
Conventions of this sort are most
helpful iu acquainting our Sunday
School with the best methods of
work and stimulating them to better
efforts, hence it is very important
that a large number from each Sun
day School attend. A most instruct
ive and helpful program has been
arranged.
