There is a unique little coal mine in the Eorksville region, the owner of which is snapping his lingers at the present coal strike agitation. Several years ago a man named Barker discovered a vein ef senii bituminous coal on his woodland, lie dug a test shaft and found the seam to be nearly five feet thick. Since that time with the aid of two men, he has been mining enough coal to keep tin; farmers for lo miles around supplied. When Barker opened his mine lie was II miles from the nearest rail road. But last summer a narrow gauge lumber road was run into a timber tract near his mine. Tin tramroad connects with the Susque hanna A- New York Railroad, and the latter connects with the Lehigh Valley here and with the Pennsyl vania at Ralston. Barker's coal is of the finest quality; he has order for all he can mine, and the money is rolling his way faster than if lie had a gold mine in theCripple Creek region.—Reporter Journal. • I'uder the new automobile law every owner of a machine must tak< out an annual license from the State Department at Harrisburg, and pa\ a fee of £:!.
