People who are advocates of profit sharing will l>e interested ill the statement, just issued, that the em ployes of the American Smelting anil Refining company have just received *200,000 in cash as their share of llie profits of the smelting trust for the year ending April IJO. This is more than twice the amount of vacation money apportioned a year ago by the company. The company wrote to Andrew Carnegie two years ago and asked him the best way to get their em ployes interested in the business. Air. Carnegie advised that they be allowed to participate in the earn ings. Those sharing the profits in clude the managers, superintendents clerks, foremen, chemists, assayers, purchasing agents and others, and the money will go all over this country and Mexico. The amount distributed indicates that the com pany lias earned over $8,300,000 the past year.
