Nervous Trouble
and Dyspepsia.
No Sleep for Weeks
Because of Pain.
Dr. Miles' Nervine Gave
Back My Health.
Dyspepsia nearly always arises from a de
rangement of the nerves. When the stomach
is not well the entire system suffers. Con
stipation, bad breath, sour stomach, frequent
headaches, biliousness, etc., will lead to ter
rible consequences if not treated in time.
J)r. Miles' Nervine is a specific for nervous
dyspepsia and all nervous diseases.
"My health was miserable for years, due to
revere nervous trouble and dyspepsia. I
h:id not been able to sleep for weeks at a
time without being awakened with pains in
my chest and stomach. My limbs felt tired,
1 was unable to do my house work without
feeling completely worn out. The doctors
f:tiled to relieve me, and after taking an end
less amount of their medicines I began tak
ing Dr. Miles' Restorative Nervine and
Nerve and Liver Tills. I obtained relief
fiom the first bottle of Nervine, was able to
sleep better than I had in years. My stom
ach net;an to gain strength and I felt better
in many ways. I have taken twelve bottles
of Nervine and Nerve and Liver Pills in the
rast three years but have not taken any of
ite as I have not felt the need of it. I go
about my work an entirely different woman
and have recommended them to ever so
many people. lam a great believer in Dr.
Miles' Nerve and Liver Pills, 1 have them on
hand all the time. I feel viery grateful for

Active and Devoted.
Christ was an example of religious
devotion. We find him going to the
temple. He was also an example of
religious activity. We find him doing
good. Some people are devoted Chris
tians, but they are not active. Others
are active, but not devoted. Christ
was both active and devoted.—Bev.

A Scientific Discovery.
Kodol does for the stomach that which
it is unable to do for itselt, even when
but slightly disordered or over loaded.
Kodol supplies the natural juices of di
gestion and does the work of the stom
ach, relaxing the nervous tension, while
the inflamed musclee of that organ are
allowed to rest and heal. Kodol..digests
what you eat and enables the stomach
and digestive organs to transform all food
into rich, red>blood.
Something to Do.
The desire of the true heart and

Sevklutf and Searching.
The spirit of Christ is a spirit of
seeking and searching. It Is a spirit
that cannot rest until success has
crowned its efforts. Ask yourself, Is
that the spirit of me? Yet we call our
selves Christ's disciples. If people have
lost their habit of going to church,
what does it mean? It means that
they are suffering from a diminution of
spiritual interest. Bev. Dr. Alsop,

According to consular reports, Ber
lin, although a busy manufacturing
city, is ono of Iho cleanest and best
kept in Europe. The smokeless condi
tion of tlft> Berlin atmosphire is as
cribed to three facts—th" preponderant
use of coke and briquettes, which are
practically'smokeless; tlic skillful sci
entific construction of boiler furnaces
and chimneys and, dually, the high
standard of skill that is taught and
enforced nmong firemen who stoke fur
naces with coal for steam and manu
facturing purposes. Before a man can
assume such a charge lie must be
taught the theory and practice of eco
nomical, scientific firing, by which the
coal is distributed in such a manner
and quantity over the grate surface as
to secure "the most perfect combustion
of Its volatile elements. The Silesia 11
coal used In Berlin in most large ste'ain
plants and factories is rich in bitumen,
but would rank below many of the
bituminous coals of the United States,
and yet the long, dense, trailing clouds
of smoke.from mill and factory chim

many American cities are rarely seen
In that section of Germany, where the
Indiscriminate shoveling of raw bitu

furnaces Is considered an ignorant and
wasteful proceeding.
Your Unnband'ii Cravat*.
To the woman who must buy her
husband's cravats I want to say a word
by way of advice—don't do it.says a
writer in the Haberdasher. If you
really must buy your husband's era
vats, do not try to get a cravat so warm
that it will feel like a mustard plaster
011 his chest. That might be good for
his bronchial tubes, but it might en
dauger his chances of ultimate redemp
tion. It would perhaps stave off throat
trouble, but it would be apt to produce
family trouble, which is a good deal
worse.
Let hiin pick out his own cravats,
and then he alone will be to blame for
them. lie may not know much about
the harmony of colors, but he is not
likely, nevertheless, to pick out a era

Keep Acconnta.
Keeping accounts, simple In form,
plain, clear and easily understood,
showing amounts due to or from oth
ers, entering correctly the dates on
which money Is paid out or received, is
the best plan to avoid disputes about
money matters and relieves the memo
ry of many unnecessary burdens. A
written record of a money transaction
has greater legal value in case of con
troversy in court than any verbal state
ment.
The habit of keeping accounts In
duces economy in expenditure and In
spires the habit of saving up, besides
showing at all times a correct financial
condition. Housekeepers, mechanics
and all who handle money in the man
agement of their personal affairs will
find It most profitable to form the hab
it of keeping accounts.
llow the Rash Cornea.
In measias a rash appears on the
fourth day of the fever. It Is first seen
on the forehead, face and neck, after
ward over the whole body. It consists
of raised red spots. In scarlet fever
the rash appears on the second day of
the fever, commencing on the upper
part of the chest and neck, whence it
spreads over the body. In smallpox an
eruption Is seen on the third or fourth
day on the face, neck and wrists. In
chicken pox the eruption is made of
small blebs. In typhoid fever the rash
rarely shows itself before the seventh
day of the fever. The spots are rose
colored, and they disappear on pressure.
Itenty'n Voang Critic.
G. A. Henty, the writer for youth,
frequently got letters from admirers
all over the world asking for his auto
graph and offering criticisms of his
books. In a story of the peninsular
war he made two boys disguise them
selves by staining their faces with
lodine. Shortly after the book was
published he received a letter from a
boy, who said he was a chemist's as
sistant, stating that while that special
Incident was represented as taking
place in 1808 lodine was uot discovered
until 1811, three years after.
