T. Downs, of William sport, is visiting relatives and friends in this, her old home. —Mr. A. A. Dunham, of Eagles .Mere, was transacting business at the county seat on Tuesday, Prof. li. L. Ford and family will leave their mountain home this week and return to Philadelphia. — ; Dr. Wackenhuth and family spent several days of this week with friends at Benton and Jamison City. —Mr. and Mrs. Higly, of this place, were visiting M. I. —After a pleasant visit of several weeks Wm. Cheney and wife left for their home in Binghamton on Monday. —J. V. Finkle, shoe and harness repairer, will be found at all times in his shop prepared to attend to the wants of patrons. -Mr. T. 10. Ford, of the auditing department of the Ponna. R. R., Philadelphia, spent several days with his brother, Prof. Ford, at Mokoma Place this week. —Mrs C. Wackenhuth, and son Charlie, spent a few days with friends at Sonestown, last week. -Atty. Shoemaker, transacted legal business at Muncy Valley, on Saturday. —W. J. Lawrence, and daughter Kva drove to Canton, on Sunday, where Miss Kva will attend school this w inter. —The Laporte twp. school direc tors on Saturday employed the fol lowing teachers: T. 10. Kornan, Ringdalc; Lizzie Kcrnan, Kinjjs; hanging out clothes in the back yard. —The Citizens' Military Band ol Bernice scored a big success and won many worthy praises by competent judges for the style and manner ol tlif very excellent music they ren dered on their visit to this place lasl Friday. 11 was a disappointment tc many that the inclement weathei was an intervening obstacle which rendered it impossible to attend tlx concert in the courthouse, yet there were many who took a good drench ing that they might hear this much heard of band. It was a highly pleased audience, notwitlrstand the disagreeable features attending with out. There was music within and of the kind that gives charm to the senses and expels care, as none pres ent had 110 attention to pay to theii shower bath and water soaked gar ments; and the band played on. I The Citizens Military Band, weni to Laporte Friday evening and wak ened up tiiat ancient town, by giv ing one of their delightful concerts, Owing to the heavy shower in the evening, they were compelled togo to the courthouse, instead of in the park as was intended. The boy> speak very highly of the hospitable manner in which the residents ol the county seat received them, every one made a host of himself and did everything to add to the pleasure ol the evening, and when the boys left in the early morning hours, they carried with them happy memories of their kind reception in Laporte. You will remember that the scribe is not a fortune teller, but he will gladly mention your visitors, when you have any. He will also mention you when you are visiting. Any itivni of interest will he thankfully received by him. Miss Katie Welch, of Tunkhan nock, and Mr. F. Mack, of New York City, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. L.
