Weather prophet Foster is out with his predictions for March, and what he says is not very encourag ing. Here it is: March will have great extremes of weather, immense rains and snows, and altogether the greates variety of weather, the greatest extremes that have occured in March for years. This condition will continue till about the 7th of April, after which dry cold weather will continue till the end of the month- The weather looks bad for spring farming, and while nine times out of ten early planting is the best, this year appears to be the exception, and in the northern corn belt, planting in May will be more successful than earlier planting. These dilliculties, however, will probably be remided to some extent, by favorable weather latter in the season and the late frosts iu the fall. DETROIT, Feb. 8. —Samson, the strong man, who is playing an en gagement here, announces that he has decided to challenge Corbett for a fight. Sampson strikes a 3,000- pound blow. He says he is willing Corbett should strike him, but that he would surely break Corbett's arm or otherwise disable him at the time. He states that he will go into train ing to perfect himself also in the science of spar dug, .llsrrietl. GLOSSKNOEH—POTTER ; Tuesday, February 13th, lb'J4, by Robt. Stor mont, J.
