J , —The hard times due to the Democratic tariff policy are being keenly felt in this manu facturing town, and a movement has lwon started by Mayor Shaw to fur nish relief to the many hundreds of sufferers here. A committee of five from each of the eleven wards, and six at large, has been appointed to take charge of the relief measures, and although the committee has not yet begun work several hundred dollars have been contributed, and will furnish the nucleus upon which the committee will begin work. The secret societies are also appointing committees to aid the needy members. These are Democratic times.
