C-CBSN'E i - • - Editor fitluAY, FEBRUARY 26tii 18!V2. rffTRKBD A r PDST-OPFICE, LA PORTE PA... AS SECOND-CLASS MATTER. J. V. REFTEMBURY, WATCHMAKER AND JEWELER, DUSHORE, PA. Senators Cameron and Quay are net without their friends and ad mirers in Tioga connty. The Wells boro Advocate says:"The greatest orators are not the most valuable Senators after all. General Butler says in a recentlj' issued autobiog raphy that Summer was in the Sen ate 25 years and that it is impossible to find in the statute booics of the United States one line drafted by him. Oratory and executive ability are not often found in the same individu al. If we can have but one give us executive ability. The Pennsylva nia Senators labor under a disad vantage in not being eloquent talk ers, but they get there just the same." ESTELLA ITEMS. ,iohn Chaflee is visiting friends here. J. J. Webster lost a valuable team horse, a week or two ago. Oscar Bedford is running a birch distiller}' near Bethel. A very young lady is stopping at John P Roger's now, and John is up o'nights. C. M. Boyles lias been granted an increase in his pension of seven dol lars per month. Our school teacher Miss Celia Welch wo s called home on Friday last, by the serious illness of her father, John Welch, of Ringer Hill. W. F. Grange is hauling a large quantity of lime for fertilizer, from Muncy Valley. It is a wise plan and others should do likewise. Where is the man that dare start a creamery here in the spring ? He should be around getting bis • build' ing under way. X. JIILLSGEOVE ITEMS. The re-election of James Butter fjr collector ot taxes, is evident that he is the right man in the right place. Henry Peck who has been con fined to his house, for some weeks, with the grip is so far recovered as to be out again. The township election passed off quietly with the exceptions of Dady Biddle and A. Lewis having a little set too. The whole ticket being elected. Geo. Braunbeck who has been suffering from grip and a complica tion of other diseases, is not much improved. His many friends hope soon to see him again restored to health. The Rev. J. W. McNamara oc cupied our pulpit last Sunday morn ing. He took his text from Acts 2d Chapter. It is acknowledged by all who heard him, to have been one of the most logical and impressive disoouis :s they evar listen?d to. Air. McNamara has been with us quite often for the last few months, and must say we have been greatly impressed and instructed by his teachings. Hoyt Bros., this season will put in three large tubular boilers. They now have seven large boilers which arc not capable of furnishing steam to run their heavy machinery and heating the tanner}', during the winter months, but by adding the tubulars to their already large nest, they will have no more trouble with steam. OUR MOTTO I What does it mean ? I Square Dealing. With less it would be folly to be content, for more than that it is unreasonable for you to ask. Look out for the man that says be will give you something for nothing, he will do no such thing. We dou't do anything of the kind, we don't even pretend to, we will give you as good as you can get elsewhere for your money and better than you'can get in most places. We have no use for silly, meaningless arguments. It is as much to your interest to deal with us as it is" to ours New goods are constantly ar riving and you will be pleased with the style and finish of the gAods as well as the price we have put on them Come iu and see I tliem. Respectfully yours, J. V. REfTENBURY. ImiSHORE. PA*
