D USIIOKE ITEMS.
The drouth is at an end we are
glad to say.
A child of Thos. Lavey was buried
in the Catholic cemetery Sunday.
. Some of the young people enjoyed
a hop in Garey's hall Saturday
evening.
S. Y. Richards, of Towanda was
looking after his business interests
in Dushoie Monday.
Dushore has only two ice cream
pallors this season—some less than
the usual number.
A. Lcgan Grim, Mr. and Mrs. R.
M. Stonnont and B. S. Karns, ofi
LaPorte were in town Monday.
Horse-back riding seems to be a
very popular amusement among the
young folks here just now. Young
ladies are especially interested in
the sport.
The ice cream festival at Mrs.
Weiss' for the benefit of the Sewing
Circle last Thursday evening was
largely attended, and we are in
formed the receipts were about sl2.
The street fakir putin an appear
ance Monday evening, giving a free
exhibition to draw a crowd and
afterwards selling a lot of cheap and
y worthless jewelry and other articlos,
Mrs. Betsy Thrashrr probably the
oldest resident of Cherry township
died at the residence of Solon
lleverly Monday; aged 92 years.
The remains were intered in
Thrasher's cemetery this Wednes
day morning.
C. M. Croll of Dushorc and Miss
Carrie Taylor, of Muncy Valley,
will be married at the residence of
the brido's father, David Taylor at
the latter place on Thursday, June
25th, to which ovent a large number
of the friends of the contracting
parties from this place are invited.
A reception will be given on June
26th at Mr. Croll's house in this
place.
Much work is being done on the
i streets of our borough but as a
ML matter of fact our streets are al-
W ways poor and rough from the dirt
Vi and stones thrown into them. From
■ u few dollars expended in raking off
Htthe loose stones the public would
uHiciive more benefit than from many
the same amount expended in
other way. With the road tax,
over SOOO, the borough's pro-
of the license moneys, Du
jßore ought to have good streets.
He authorities should see that all
are most judiciously ex-
FACARACCS.
I JAMISON CITY HEMS.
The last rain made quite a change.
John W. Flynn Esq., of this place,
spent Sunday at LaPorte.
E. B. Yonkin manager for Pheonix
Lumber Co., spent Sunday with his
family at Williamsport.
John Dowar made Hills Grove a
pleasant call on Sunday, Wonder
what John's attraction is ?
Miss Sadie Woodley of nughes
ville was visiting at her sister's Mrs.
W. M. Davidge, last week.
Miss Mollie Breaker of LaPorte
was visiting her sister Mrs. Chas.
Landon, the latter part of last week.
W. G. Evans proprietor of the
ice cream parlors, says this is not
the best kind of weather for ice
cream.
Several car loads of oak and hem
lock baric are received at Proctors
Tannery daily. Business is being
pushed to its utmost capacity.
John Connors of Dushore and
Dan P. Murphy of Elmira, New
York, wore calling on friends in
town the latter part of last week.
John Fwtbes exposed of his valu-i
able "Prince" on Saturday, to a mani
from Muncy Valley. John *>ays he
is a dandy and hates to see him go.
Heury Tripp who has been em"
ployed as setter on the mill here
accompanied by his wife aud daught
er Fannie, left for Skunk, on Satur
day.
Jerry Kennedy and wife of La-
Porte, and Mrs. George Nortz of
i\(-w York state, was visiting at
John P. Kennedy's, the fore part of
lust week.
Lloyd Zuner accompanied by sev- !
erftl other gentlemen, done some
very good fishing last week. They
caught a large amount of the fine
trout and among them, some that
weighed 10 ounces.
There was a com jinny of 60 from
Blooinsburg came up and spent
Saturday at the Proctor House.
Among them we noticed Judge
Ikeler, Col. Jamison, Mr. Aloyer, of
the firm of Moyer Bros, and Samuel
G. Wigfall.
The saw mill at this place shut
down for a few days on account of
some breakage on the circle saw.
It is hoped that there will be a good
rain before long, to float the logs
from the woods to the mill so that
work will go 011.

Williamsport, were visiting friends
in town the latter part of last week-
Seth Griffin is in town and the
man of our city who gives him a
horse trade will get soaked and
don't you forget it.
W. L. ftoffman's team took his
people and some of G. W. Darby's
family to Forksville Tuesday—all
came home straight as a striDg.
There seems to be no need of a
license house at this place, quench
ing thirsts are supplied in good
shape just as things are at present. |
George Chapman and Miss Anna
Haynos, both of this place, were
married at WavortyjN. Y., on the
30th of May. George don't you
think it about time to order up the
smokes ?
Chas. Morne of this place met
with a fearful accident while peeling
bark for Henry Houltzhour, last
week. A tree which had peen cut
down and lodged, the but of which
remained on the stump tore loose
from the same striking Mr. Morne j
on the leg near the ankle breaking j
it and crushing the bones through i
ina frightful manner. Drs. Chiis-j
tian and Herrmann were called and
bandaged the limb as beßt they
could and at this writing he is
doing as well as could be expected.
Over SIOO.OO was raised by subscrip
tion for the unfortunate man.

basket.
Miss Ettie Randall is training the

Cold dry weather makes the farm
ers look discouraged about the hay
crop. The winter wheat looks very
light.
C. B. Jennings blacksmith shop
is running full blast. Wonder what
Cal goes to Bradford county BO
much for ?
Disappeared from J. G. Plotts:
Small boy, about twelve years old,
answers to name of Harisburg.
Anyone seeing him better advise
him togo back and behave himself.
t The Giange at Estella is in a
very flourishing condition, having
upwards of forty members. Just
what they need to help the farming
interest of this part of the
county.
Estella people are talking strong
of celebrating the glorious Fourth.
You may count on a good time. I
heard a Granger say they were
going to have a picnic. Wonder if
they will invite me ? I like corn.
KITTIE CLOVER.
The appearance of the Prince of
Wales as a witness ia a gambling
suit, reflects greatly on his position
as heir to the British throne. From
present indications England has
nothing promising to expect from
Victoria's eldest son. Her career
has been an honorable one. This
son, however, has already disgraced
the name, and it will require the
strongest inferences to check such a
spirit when it once is intrusted with
powers supreme as a king gains in
> his induction into ollicc.

Pianos Organs.
The improvod method of fastening ptriagp of
Pianos, invented by us, is one of tho wont im
portant improvements ever made, making the
instrument more richly musical in tone, more
durable, and less liable to get out of tone.
IJoth the Mason A Kauilin Organ® and
Pianos excel chiefly in that which is the ehief
excellence in any musical instrument, quality
of tone. Other things, though important, n»o
much less so than this. An instrument with
unmusical tones cannot be good. Illustrated
catalogues of Dew styles, introduced this soason
sunt free.
