County Committee, of Feb. Ist '9O,
there will bo a Convention of the
Republican voters of Sullivan coun
ty in the Court House at LaPorte
TUESDAY MARCH 4th 1890,
at 2 o'clock p. m.
The convention is called for the
purpose at choosing one delegate to
the State Convention and to trans
act such other business as shall
properly come before the meeting.
Delegate election will be held at
the usual place of holding elections
in the several districts on Saturday
Ma-ch Ist 1890, between the hours
of 4 and 7 p. m.

Mrs. Benjamin F. Tracev, the
wife of Secretary of the Navy Tracy,
was a lady well and favorably known
in Brooklyn, where her home hail
been for twenty-three years. She
wan in her sixtieth year of her age.
Gon. Tracy who was born and
brought up in Owego, married Misa
Ctttlin in 1854. They resided in
that place until 18(J5, when they
came to Brooklyn, where there home
has since been. Three children
have blessed their union. Two arc
daughters and the other a son.
Personally Mrs. Tracy was a very
pleasant lady. She had a fair com
plexion and large blue eyes. Iu
height she was slightly above the
medium. She was solidly built and
her face was that of au intelligent
woman. Her silver gray hair wan
worn smoothly brushed back from
her high forehead. She talked in a
very quiet tone and expressed herself
in a very few words.
The Tracy family, besides Mr. and
Mrs. Tracy, consists of three chil
dren and one grandchild. Mrs.
Emma L. Wilmerding, the fetdest,
is a widow with one child. Mrs.
Wilmerding has resided with her
family since her husband's death,
and went with them to Washington.
Frank Is. Tracy, the only son, favors
his father in appearance and in his
business ability, lie is a handsome
young man of thirty, and unmarried,
lie now lives at home, and only
spends in Washington what time he
can spare from his father's business.
Miss Mary Tracv, the uumnrried
daughter, one of the victims of the
disaster, was like her mother in ap
pearance. She was very amiable
and had a host of friends who will
be horrified to loam of her dreadful
fate.— Ev.

Dr. W. A. Bradley, who was
charged by the Phila. Press with
larceny as bailee some time ago, was
sentenced on Wednesday Jan. 99,
to five years and six months in the
Eastern penitentiary. The misap
propriations amounted to nearly
SB,OOO.
The treasury depart decides that
a cask used in importing liquor can
not be used again in exporting li
quor. Now it tlic department would
jonly decide that a man once filled
| with liquor could not be used again
for the same purpose, the temper
ance question would be nearly solv
ed.

John Richart is seriously ill. He

The young men of town are look
ing forward to Saturday's Local
district Institute. We hope they
will not be disappointed in their
future plans. Of course the boys
are very seldom left, on any affair
like this. «
The E. V. Minister Jlev. S. S.
Mumey is holding protracted meet
ing at Nordmont. They held quart
erly meeting here on Sunday morn
ings at the M. E. church. The pre
siding elder was present.
