Waverly— Yesterday morning at *
o'clock a west hound freight train on
the Erie raliroad jumped the (racks
Atl a crossover, at Smithboro, and Loth
the engine and eight cars were thrown
off the track with the result that both
the east and west bound tracks were
blocked. The train was not running
at a high rate of speed otherwise
there would have been a bad mixup
As it was the train stopped quickly,
and the cars that were off the track
were not badly damaged The east
bound track was soon cleared, Lut
the west bound track was blocked un-
til five o'clock last evening The
cause of the wreck has not been as-
cetrained with certainity, but it is
thought that it was due to a defec-
tive tire on one of the locomotive
wheels During the time that the
trains over the D. L & W.
