- Aaron Sheeler.
Athens—Aaron Sheeler died at his
home in Sheshequin at 6 o'clock
Thursday night aged 83 years He
was one of the oldest residents of that
place and has been identified with
its business prosperity closely all his
life. 1lad he lived a week longer he
would have rounded out 33 years of
existence. He served in Co. B 171st
Pennsylvania Vols. from October 23,
1562 to August 7, 1883. He leaves be-
sides his wife one brother, Jghn
Sheeler of Sheshequin ond two sisters
His funeral will take place Sunday
afternoon at his late residence and
at 2 o'clock at the Sheshequin church
The pension bill introduced into the
legislature of Pennsylvania provides
that a pension shall be pald to every
soldler who was a resident of the
state at the time of his enlistment
and shall be a resident at the time
sof making his application shall bé
entitled to a pension of five dollars
per month If he served one year or
less, $7.50 If ha served more than one
year and less than two and $10 If he
served over two years. The bill was
on the first day of January, (905. The
bill does not apply to soldiers who
were not residents of the state at
the time of entering the service, and
were not residents at the time of
making the application for pension

ter's young =on, Leon Buck, who died
this morning at 1.30. Mrs Trimbler

of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Buck, died
at their residence near the tannery
this morning at 1:30 o'clock of penu-
monia. The funeral will take place
Monday at 10 o'clock a. m. Inter-
ment at Tioga Point cemetery.

An Appeal For Fuel nnd Food.
WASHINGTON, Feb, "—An urgent
appeal for fuel has been received by
the interstate commerce commission
from the town government of Edin-
burg, N. D. A dispatch-says that suf-
fering there Is Imminent, nnd business
places are closing, Groceries are also
running out of supplies. There bave
been no local freights since Dec. 24,
the dispatch says, and no mall has left
the place for three weeks. [It ls claim
ed that coal has been ou the road wince
Oct. 15.
