It is understood that General Man- ager Atterbury of the Pennsylvania Rallroad, agreed to the demands of engineers that thelr schedule be so revised that their hours shall be re- duced and by so doing has elimin- ated all possibility of a strike among the other employes The Grievance Comittee represent- ing the Brotherhood of Trainmen and Firemen, which threatened to tie up the road because they falled to get an advance In wages, was requested by the engineers on Tuesday to avoid extreme measures until they (the en- gineers) had further negotiated with the company. The request was grant ed, the engineers got what they want- ed, and, as a result, the trainmen and firertfen have lost all chance of suc- ceeding by striking They could do litthe without the support of the en- gineers Congressman-Flect Kipp Better. Two telegrams were received yes terday from Washington stating that Congressman-elect George W. Kipp is slightly improving, but would prob- ably be confned to his bed for saveral days. Mr. Kipp has been in Washing- ton for about ten days, and shortly after his arrival was taken ill. He was al first thought to have been suf- fering from appendicitis, but tele- grams from his bedside would ap- pear to indicate that this was an er- ror Condactor Injured. Charles Hatmaker, a conductor on J-W1 was struck by a water tank near Meshoppen yesterday afternoon and quite seriously injured in the back and hips. Hatmaker was climb- ing down the ladder on the side of a freight car and falled to notice the tank which struck him and knocked him from the car. A special meeting of the borough council was held in the Packer hose roots last night at which a resolu tion was introduced and passed au- thorizing the borough clerk to adver- tise for bids for the construction of a trunk Une sewer over the route which has been prinled from Ume to time in the Sayre papers. Enraged Native of Haly Threatened to Kill Woman Whom He Pro- ed to Love. Last night a warrant was Issued by Justice Carey for the arrest of Pasqualo Uliano, an Itallan on com- plaint of Mrs Marion Libbia, whe charged that Uliano ointed a pistol at her and also threatened to shoot her. Uliano has not yet been located by the police From the story told to the justice in broken English it appears that Mrs Libbia wus married a few mouths ago and that previous to this event Ulianc had been a suitor for her hand. Wher the woman married Ullan« threatened to kill his rival and the woman he had married, but had never attempted to put the threat into ex- cculion until yesterday. Early In the afternoon Mrs Libbia, who lives or Thomas avenue, went to the home of ap Italian family with whom Ullan« boarded. The man was there and when Mrs. Libbia entered and she al leges that as she stepped inside Ull- ano drew a pistol from his pocket and pointed it at her, at the same time threatening to shoot her There were three or four men in the room and before the Italian, enraged feal- ousy could discharge the weapon they seized him and took possesion of the weapon. In the meantime, Mrs. Libbia ran to a bed room and locked herself on the inside. Chlef Walsh was telephoned for, but when he arrived the Italian had decamped Mra.
