Urdered From Town Last Night Re.

Last night Justice Nelson ordered
“Jack™ Clancey, a well known char-
acier out of town. Clancey was giv-
en iweaty-four hours In which to
shake tLe dust of Savre from his feet,
and as (he time will be up about
eight o'clock this evening, it is ex-

Clancey arrested by Chief
{ Walsh In the early part of last even-

{with the change for a ten dollar bill
which had been given to him by n
stranger during the holiday week The
Siranger was a messenger for the
Baldwin Locomotive company and he
came over the Lehigh with two en-
gines in his charge. When he reached
Sayre witlethe engines the latter were
in need of repalra As it took two or
three days to do the job. it gave the
man In charge an excellent opportun-

that he fell in with Clancey and the
twa proceeded to decorate the
town red. Finally the stranger is al-
leged to have given Clancey a ten dol-
lar bill 0 get changed. He did not
return in a reasonble length of time
and the stranger hunted him up. He
found him at a booze emporium and
asked him for the change. Clancey
failed to produce the coin, but finally
arranged a settlement by agreeing lo
give the stranger two dollars. He
said that he had a friend who would
not permit him to go to jail for a
small amount like that and he started
out to find his friend His friend
must have been alsent from town as
Clancey hurriedly departed and noth-
lug more was seen of him until last
evening when he was picked up by
Chief Walsh. In the meantime Justice
Nelson had issued a warrant charg-
ing larceny; but _when Clancey was
arraigned last night the star witnes
for the commonwealth was not pres

and therefrom sufficiently
to resume his journey with the en

Raliroaders Are Warned By Company
Officials Not to Sign Petition In
His Hehali.
A petition for judicial mercy for
Clarence Ely, the young man who
robbed the Ithaca station on the first
of October last, is being circulated
among the men employed by the
Lehigh Valley. The petition does not
meet with approval on the part
of the company's officials They are
anxious that Ely shall be punished
and the officials have therefore in-
structed the special officers to warn
the men employed by the company
not to sign the document. Those who
have appended their names thereto
will be politely asked to withdraw
their signatures, and If they refuse—
well, it is not known what will hap-
pen.
Ely's case Is to come before the court
and a trial jury at Ithdta on the 28th
of the present month, he now being
out on ball It will be remember-
ed that he entered the Ithaca station
between five and six o'clock In the
morning while Bert Hryant, the tick-
et agent was asleep. Ely and Bryant
are alleged to have made a pact to
rob the station at a certain time, but
Bryant got cold feet and the pact was
