Mrs. John Raymond went to
Towanda this morning to spend
the day.
Lewis G. Mayhood, of the Le-
high Valley special officer's office,
has gone to Island Heights, N. J.,
for a few days’ visit.
Tuesday evening the returns
from election will be read at the
Loomis during the progress of the
moving picture show.
The heaviest frost of the season
covered the ground this morning.
The weather prophet however pre,
dicts Indian summer within a short
time,
Robert Simmers, the pure food
agent, who is well known to the
officials of this section, and who is
under suspension for taking graft,
its judgment, Simmers says that
the charges made against him are
merely a political trick and will be
explained at the proper time,

The fake labor paper with which
Sayre has been flooded is an excel-
lent testimonial to the desperate
straits in which the gang candi
dates find themselves at the present
time. With defeat staring them in
the face they are making a bercu-
st fly
The final arrangements have
course that will be given at the
high school hall under the auspices
pices of the alumni association and
the high school athletic association.
The course will coasist of five en-
tertainments by the best talent ap-
pearing before the American public
today.
The first number is the Rogers
Grilley recital, and will take place
Nov, 16. Mr. Rogers is one of the
best harpists in the country, and
Mr. Grilley is one of the most
mirth provoking impersonators
that ever appeared in this section
Those who have heard him are
high in their praise of his work,
The second number is slated for
Dec. 15 and consists of an excels
lent musical company, together
with a reader of rare ability, whose
imitations of birds, animals and
children is truly amazing,
Probably the most popular, and
funniest man now lecturing is
Strickland W. Gilligan who will
appear on Feb. 9. Having heard
him once a person will not miss
the opportunity to hear him again.
He has been at Athens, and every-
one who heard him is still laughing
over his excellent jokes and inimit-
able humor.
The fourth number, The Days
will appear March 5. Mr, and
Mrs. Day are two of the best des
lincators of human character that
one could imagine. Itis a case of
fun from the time that they appear
until the entertainment is closed,
The fizal number will be a lec-
ture by Frank Dixon. H: is an
orator of rare ability and discusses
the great questions of the day in
a masterful manner. The lecture
is a combination of humor and rare
common sense,
Course tickets for the five num-
bers will cost one dollar, The
price is away below the average as
these entertainments usually cost
at least soc for each number. It
is not a money making scheme,
but an attempt to give the pzople
a number of high class entertain
ments, and to keep the price with-
in the reach of all.
CHOIR INSTALLATION
An impressive and beautiful
service will be held in the Church
of the Redeemer, Sayre, on Wed-
nesday evening, Nov. 7. Two
choirs will be set apart by the rec-
tor, assisted by the Rev. Francis
Yarnall of Hazleton, the Rev. Wil-
liam E. Daw of Athens, and the
Rev. H. W, Crydeawise of Waver-
ly. Over fifty choirsters will be
installed. A children's choir of
twenty-four voices; this choir has
its own unique vestment; the
church choir of thirty, newly robed
in their regular church choir vest.
ments, This is the first time this
choir installation service has ever
been held in this valley, and a
special choral service throughout
will be rendered by the newly or
dained choirs. John M. Jolls, the
choirmaster, so well known to all
three towns, will sing the offertory
solo, All seats tree. All are cor-
dially invited.
ENTERTAINED FRIENDS
A party was given at the home
of Miss Grace Hawes at No, 707
North Elmer avenue, on the evens
ing of Nov. 1, when she entertained
about forty of her young friends
and schoolmates. The evening was
spent with games and music, Sup-
per was served at 9:30 and games
were played until 12 o'clock, when
the guests departed for their homes
declaring they had spent a most
evjoyable evening. A solo was
given by Master Charles Hill and
Alfred Kentch with the bass and
Lilley's Sayre Mouth Organ Has
a Letter From Gompers
Which it Fails to Give Its
Readers,
Instead of devoting his time to
screeching “scab” whv don't the
publisher of the Sayre Daily Times
print the letter from Gompers that
he has in his possession? After
the Gompers letter appeared in
The Record the publisher of the
Times immediately got busy. He
was dead cock sure, as he is of
was a fake, and that he could prove
it with no trouble. He wrote
Gompers, and he is known to have
Gomper's reply in his possession
Why don't he print it? Adver
tisers are not rushing the printing
business just at present and the
letter which he received from Mr.
Gompers would make highly inter-
esting reading at this time. The
Times falls all over itself every
now and then ia telling its readers
and incidentally itself that it is the
only newspaper in the town. But
in this instance the Times is sup
pressing a bit of information that is
considered of the utmost imports
ance at the present time.

Two Suspicious Characters Were
Seen Last Night, But They
Disappeared
Last night a local physician, who
bad been on a trip on the other
side of the Susquehanna river, re-
ported that he had seen a couple
of suspicious looking men leave
the T, P. Maney cottage just before
dusk and go down the road toward
the Knapp place. One of the men
had a black eye and this gave rise
to the belief that the men were the
same ones who assaulted Alfred
Hicks, the Lehigh Valley fligman,
on Thursday night. The special
officers of the Lehigh Valley were
notified and another searching
party consisting of police officers
from Sayre and Athens was organ-
ized. A search was made for the
men but they were not found. The
chances are that they will not be
apprehended.
ELECTION RETURNS
During the performance of the
Herald Square Moving Picture Co.
on Tuesday evening the election
returns will be thrown on the can-
vas thereby giving all who attend
an opportunity of knowing the
latest from the field of election
without standing around on the
cold strects. The person holding
the lucky number will be given a
gold watch at this performance.

HOW IS THIS?
How does it come that “The
Labor World" is being distributed
through the postoffice as “sample
copies,” It is nothing more than
a campaign sheet and should pay
the same rate of postage as matter
of a similar class, Does the con
gressman from this district have
better control of the postoffice des
partment than he had eight months
age?
FORMED PARTNERSHIP
P, H. O'Shea and Colonel R. S
Loomis, both well known under-
takers, have entered into a partner-
ship and will begin business to
gether on Monday next, Mr.
O'Shea has been conducting an
establishment on Packer avenue
for the past two years, while Mr.
Loomis’ place of business is located
on Elmer avenue, The new firm
will be found at the latter location.

Congressional district come most
trustworthy reports indicating the
date for congress. The bluader-
ing campaign conducted by the
with the record of that gentleman
himself, has removed all doubt as
vass has been productive of results
other side that it has been a cam-
paign of vituperation, it has been
merely a case of telling the voters
just what kind of a man Mr. Kipp's
opponent is. In not a single ins
stance has Lilley denied any of
the accusations made against him
Not one instance, did we say. We
are wrong. Mial has denied just
one, He came out in his local
mouth organ yesterday and denies
the assertion that he is on record
as being unfair to the laboring man
And in support of his contention
he floods Sayre yesterday with a
fake labor paper, which is nothing
more nor less than a puppet of the
disreputable Republican ma.
chinery.
OVER NIAGARA FALLS
Dramatic ors and producers
in general are constantly searching
for new localities and scenes for
their productions and with but lit
tle success. The cities have been
ransacked from the rich to the
lowly, from the police to the
thieves. Frisco's Chinatown ha.
been depicted, the western plains
and mountains have furnished their
full quota of ideas, the pastoral
drama has about played its string
and the Southland has become in
teresting no longer. North, south
cast and west—no locality has es-
caped and all have been called
upon to contribute to the demands
of the dramatist, Ideas for me-
chanical effects have also grown
scarce and it seems everything
possible to be used has been
utilized, In placing his melo-
drama, “Over Niagara Falls," in
the vicinity of the famous falls,
Joseph LeBrant has discovered not
only a locality never before used,
but has also furnished material for
a mechanical effect which the pubs
lic should welcome as gladly as a
fond mother would a lost child,
Even in these days when all things
scem possible to the scenic artist,
the perfection of a scene showing
the ponderous ove: flow of water of
imperious Niagara was a huge
task and the owners of the produc
tion are more than pleased with
their success. The preduction
will be seen at the Loomis opera
house next Monday evening.
