HALLOWE'EN SOCIAL
Mrs. Joseph Hines gave a Hal
lowe'en social to her friends last
evening and to-day those who were
fortunate enough to have
there are all under the spell of
witchery that enchanted them in
their evening's frolic. Mrs. Hines
must have studied all of the fabled
magicians from the days of Marcus
Agrippa up to the wizzards of the
present time to have been able to
represent the different divinities
that she had in attendance on this
occasion, As you entered her
rooms by the golden stairway you
were greeted at every step with
fairy spirits whose welcome gave a
charm to the oceasion. The hat
rack at the head of the stairs was
under the guardianship of a spon-
sor of Jupiter, the avenger fabri

osage orange. The mantel in the
dining room wus garnered with
faded autumn leaves and protect.
ed by skalls and pumpkin deities
The table was elaborately decked
with candlesandg goblins in most fan
tastie style. The rooms were lLight-
ed with Japanese lanterns and the
rainbow colors filled the air with
fairy visions of enchantment
Theres were twenty-two guests in
i attendance and as they marched
around this table each one was pre-
sented with a souvenir of the oecea-

BROTHERS REUNITED
Last May when Tom Hudson was
serving on the Jury at court in To-
wanda one of the jurors asked lim
if he knew HL J. Hudson, He said
Yes, he was my brother, but he
had been dead a great many
years.” The man said, “No, that
can not be for IT met him in a
Grand Army Post in New Jersey
within a year.” Tom then in.
quired more fully about him and
found that he lived in Vineland,
N. J, and soon after got in cor-
respondence with him, and last
evening the brother came to Ath.
ens and will visit around here for
some time, looking up the friends
of his youth. He served in the
Civil War in the 141st Pa. regi-
ment and has not been heard from
in 40 years and all of his friends
supposed him dead. Tom has tak-
en a vacation now and he and his
brother will spend it together going
over the scenes of their childhood.
