TRIED TO KISS WOMAN
Forciable Osculation Results in
a Smashed Kose and Four
Months in Jail
Waverly— That it isn’t sale to
attempt to kiss a woman against
very forcible and impressive man-
ner yesterday afternoon. The force
was furnished by the woman and
the impression was made on the
man’s nosc. To make matters still
worse he was sentenced to spend
the next four months in the Owego
jail
Yesterday afternoon William
Storms entered the home of Mrs.
Evans who lives north of Waverly
near the site of the old Lehign ice
house. There was another woman
present and he first tried to kiss
her, but she resisted and so he
turned his attention to Mrs, Evans,
She told him to get away, and
when he failed to comply with her
wishes she slapped him in the face.
He renewed his attempt to kiss her
whereupon she hit him with a
stick of wood on the arm, he in
turn slapped her, and she retaliated
by throwing the stick of woed at
him. Contrary to all precedent
the missle went true and struck
Storms squarely on the nose, cuts
ting a deep gash in it. He then
struck the woman on the side of
{the face with his fist and left the
‘house. After going outside he
{stoned the house and threatened
{to kill all the inmates. Mrs, Evans
iprocured a warrant for his arrest
{and he was taken into custody last
(night by Deputy Sheriff John Tozer
‘and given the four months’ sen-
{tence this morning.

Waverly.—Last evening the
Waverly boy's band gathered in
tront of the offices of Hon. Byram
L. Winters on Fulton street and
began a serenade. A number of
people gathered and Mr. Winters
appeared and invited the band and
those who had assembled to come
up to his rcoms. He shook
hands with the members of the
band and made a short speech,
The band gave a concert while in
the rooms. The crowd stayed for
about two hours, and spent the
time very enjoyably.
