Waverly —Four prominent resis dents of Waverly were out for an |automobile ride a few days since, and run the machine to the vicinity of Wilawanna. At that point they | bad to cross the D. L. & W. tracks. Just as they were upon the cross- ing with the machine standing over both tracks so that one pair of wheels was on the east and the other on the westbound track, and a fist passenger train approaching, the machine stopped, and all at- tempts to move it proved futile. | After struggling with it for some (time with the passenger train get- [ting nearer every second, a section {boss came to the rescue. The combined force cf the section men and the four occupants of the car, 14 in number, succeeded in removs ing the car from the track just in time to save it from the train They then examined the machine in a less hurried manner and found that the brakes were set, and then the reason for the auto's tenacious hold upon the track was revealed to_ four surprised and chagrined cilizens.
