George Swartwood has received
a letter from Neil Burgess direct-
ing him to join the Emma Bunting
company and he will leave very
soon for that purpose.
At their last meeting the Y. P,
V. of the Baptist church decided
to give a trolley party and ice
cream social on Gept. 4 The cars
will go to Athens and around the
old belt line, and ice cream will be
served at the church.
IN POLICE COURT
Waverly—Three men with jigs
of greater or less proportions were
creating a disturbance last evening
and were all arrested. They said
they were from Sayre and at first
rather discredited. the idea that
they were guilty, but later con-
cluded that they had been unduly
hilarious, Every one was dead
broke and they were discharged.
A man drove into town yesterday
with a load of lumber and teles
phoned to his people, who reside
somewhere near Litchfield, that he
was then coming home, As he
had not arrived at midaight a
brother drove to Waverly and
found him in the lockup. He paid
$3 fine and was released.

Waverly—The sample ballots,
visions that will be submitted to
the taxpayers on August 27 with
street, have been printed and can
be secured from the viliage clerk.
All persons interested should pro-
cure a copy and inform themselves

Waverly—A young man named
Floyd Haverly came to the police
yesterday and stated that his watch
had been stolen. The officers later
found Wm. Dunn in an intoxicated
had the watch, he was placed under
arrest by Officer Gndley. On be-
ing searched the watch was not
found, and he protested his inno-
cence, but later told whom he
thought had the watch. He was
again searched and the watch was
found in his stocking. He still
claimed that he was innocent and
was held under $300 bonds to ap-

Waverly—There was a com-
motion at the Loomis last night
due to the fact that some one
amused himself by throwing
cucumbers about the gallery, A
young fellow named Gleason was
spotted as being the guilty party
and he was forcibly ejected. This
morning a complaint was sworn
out and a warrant issued for his
arrest. He plead not guilty . and
will be given a hearing tomorrow
atga. m. During the confusion
incident to ejecting Gleason from
the house some one shouted fire,
and a panic was narrowly averted
HURT AT POWER HOUSE
Waverly—John Donnelly, an
employe of the Traction Company,
was seriously hurt at thg power
house yesterday afternoon. Two
cars were standing about 3 feet
apart at the power house and he
was between them The controller
on one of them was open but no
one had discovered it. Ths trolley
on one of the cars was placed on
the wire and the car sprang for-
ward suddenly pinching him
between them and causing bad
contusions of the legs. He is con-
fined to his home on Howard
street,
JASON B. BLOSSOM
Waverly—Jason B. Blossom, an
old and well known resident of
Waverly, died at his home on Che-
mung street at 4 o'clock this morn-
ing aged 85 years. He was at-
tacked some mo#ths ago with pars
alysis of the throat and had not
been able to talk for some time
previous to his death, He is sur-
vived by his wife, one son Eugene
and three daughters,” Mrs. F, E.
Bechman, Mts. J. O. Robinson,
Mrs. P, S. Miller of Ithaca, and
Mrs. J. W, Wright of Corning.
The funeral will be held on Satur
day next at 3 p. m. from the house,
died last night at her home at
Wyaakoop creck, where she has
resided for the past 50 years. She
was born in Tyrone county, Ireland
in 1819, and her death resulted’
: She is survived one daughter,
Mrs. Margaret Kent, and three
sons, Thomas, Robert and George,
all of Chemung county.” The
funeral will be held from her late
home on Saturday next at 2 p, m.
LOCAL NEWS
George Marcy of Sayre, who
was operated upon a short time
ago at the hospital for appendicitis,
was discharged this morning.
Dr. E. N. Post, senior interne at
the hospital, will leave today for
his home at Tioga Center, where
he wil enjoy a few days’ vacation,
Wm. Murray, ex-county treas-
urer of Sullivan county, was up
from Dushore this afternoon and
made an appreciated call on the
publisher of this paper.

Authorizing the construction of a
public sewer beginning at the west bank
of the Susquehanna river about eight
hundred feet south of Sayre Water Com-
pany’s pumping station, and extendio
westerly over the lands of the Consoli-
dated Heal Estate Company and the
lands of the Lehigh Valley Rallroad
Company to Lehigh avenue; thence
northerly ou Lehigh avenue to Hayden
street; thence westerly on Hayden
street to Desmond street; thence north-
erly on Deamond street to Lehigh ave-
nue; thence northwesterly on Lehigh
avenue to Cayags street; thence wester-
ly on Cayuga street to Wilbur avenue,
in the Borough of Sayre, Penn'a.

and Town Council of the Boro. of Sayre,
