Yesterday afternoon a ‘group of men were shaking dice whea a young fellow coming by noticed the game and asked if he might get into it. He appeared to be all right and all expressed their willingness and he took his place at the table. He did not appear to like the looks of the small dice that were being used however and brushed them out of the way, at the same time substituting some larger ones that he drew from his pocket. This caused some of the players to be rather suspicious and they nearly all withdrew. One man who chanced to bé nedr noticed the dice and concluding that they were loaded decided to take a hand in the game, The stranger seemed pleased with the looks of things, but ins stead of winning he lost steadily until he was out §1200 He left, and going to a justice, claimed that he had been cheated and wanted his money back.
