man were found dated 1776. The
Paines, Clement and Dawid, resid
ing in Athens, were kinsmen of
this notable family, and when the
writer first came to Athens to re
side the relationship between them
and John Howard Paine was a
matter of public note David

house on the spot where the

while the Clement Paine residence

ON CHARGE OF ASSAULT
Athens—Mrs Emma Johnson
had Lottic Heemans arrested for
the assault on Su:quehanna street
Saturday afternoon, and the case
was heard before Justice Tozer this
forenoon It was a very warm
contest and not all the particu-
lars were brought out but Justice
Tozer held the prisoner on her
own recognizance with the under~
standing that she is to leave town
within a week and in the meantime
she is to keep the pace as far as
Emma Johnson and the good
people of the town are concerned.
This Lottie Heemans is the wife of
Harry Heemans, who is now evad-
ing the officers of the law to pre-
vent arrest.
