Considering the size of the town
there were but few Fourth of July
accidents and these were not of a
serious nature,
The Business Men's Association
and the officials of the Packer band
are conferring as to the advisability
of the band giving concerts in this
place during the remainder of the
summer,
The Christian Endeavor society
of the Church of Christ will hold
an ice cream social Fnday evening,
July 6 at the home of Fred Hever-
ly, 214 Chestnut street, West
Sayre. All are invited.
There will be something doing
every nunute at the street fair
which is to be given for the benefit
of the fire department next week.
The attractions are all first class
and if the weather proves fine the
crowd will be a large one,
The high water in both rivers is
rather discouraging to bass fisher-
men. With the exception of three
or four days the water has been
high and roily ever since the sea
son began, and but few bass have
been caught.
Two boys were detained at police
headquarters yesterday to explain
how they came in possession of a
couple of wheels which were
alleged to have been stolen from
the Lehigh shops. The fathers of
the boys were notified and they
settled with the men who claimed
to own the wheels.

Report that Abutment to New
Utterly Without Foundation.
A wild and unauthenticated
rumor, utterly without foundation,
was circulited about the streets

given considerable coloring from
the fact that the county com
missioners came to Sayre this
morning. It was stated that they |
had examined the bridge and ex
bridge and make provisions for a
new abutment. |

story pronounced it absolutely
without foundation,
As a matter of fact the officials |
had come to Sayre this morning |
for the purpose of going to Tczer's
bndge which crosses the Chemung |
just east of town. It is said that]
this structure is in need of slight |
repaits and the matter had been |
called to the attention of the|
county commissioners Just
what the repairs are the com |
missioners did not state

of the best jobs in the county, and
