and borough engineer.
Chief Engineer Spaulding of the
fire department appeared before the
council and stated that there
should be more efficicat fire
alarm established, as in the present
case the firemen in the third and
fourth wards can be reached only
with great difficulty. It was sug-
gested that arrangement
might be made whereby the alarm
would be sounded by the watch-
men at the bridge works and furni-
ture factory. The matter was re-
ferred to the fire and safety com-
mittee.
