The driving rod on a freight en-
gine drawing an east bound symbol
train broke near Laceyville and de-
layed traffic for several hours. The
train was running at full speed

At a recent meeting of the Brad
ford County Agricultural Society
it was decided to have besides the
usual attractions a public wedding,
a public baby show, and a balloon
ascension cach day at the fair to
be held next September.
Towanda township farmers have
suffered considerably from the
violent hail and rain storm which
occurred on Sunday last. The
wheat was beaten down and it is
estimated that there will not be

ing last evening to finish the work
of appointing committees and
jamitors for the various buildings

draw an order for $190 to pay in-
terest on bonds.

1 o'clock as the time for the annual
inspection of the school buildings.

building at a salary of £35 per
month. John Bigelow was reap-
pointed janitor of the hich school
building with an increase of salary.
Mr. Bigelow formerly received $0
and $55 per month for his services,
but will now receive £50 and 86¢
Mrs. Kersey was appointed jan-
itress of the Elmer avenue school
