pital Last Night and But Little
Is Known Concerning His
History
- Patrick Burke, who until recently
has been employed by the Federal
Granite Brick Company of this
place, died last night at the Packer
hospital after a brief illness of
pneumonia. Burke weat to the
hospital yesterday moming in a
critical condition. An examination
by the physicians developed the
fact that he was suffering from
pocumonia and he was also in the
advanced stages of tuberculosis
But little is known of the man's
history. He was 36 years of age
and born in Irelaud and came here
some time ago to work for the
brick company. At one time he
boarded -at the Bradford House,
but recently no one appears to
know where he has been staying.
The body was removed to J. W.
Grumme's undertaking rooms and
effort will be made to find his rela~
tives.
Unless relatives appear to take
charge of the remains he will
doubtless be buried at county
expense,
According to information ob-
tained from those who were ac-
quainted with the deceased his
condition for weeks had been most
pitiable. “The ravages of tubercu-
losis had made it impossible for
him to work and he had lived as
best he could. Without friends
and money, and seriously ill, be-
yond recovery, he is said to have
slept out of doors at might, and
subsisted on food given to him by
those who knew of his condition.
He is not known to have any rela-
tives in this section of the country.
He had been in Sayre nearly a
year, but in the meantime he did
not divulge enough of his personal
history to be any advantage to the
authorities in ascertaining the
whereabouts of his friends.

Two Places of Business Looted
Early This Momniog by Un-
known Thieves
Bold, bad, unidentified burglars,
evidently members of a touring
gang, broke into and robbed two
stores in Milltown this morning be-
tween one and two o'clock, and
although Officer D. J. Sisson was
on the ground within five minutes
after the thieves had left, they had
completely disappeared, and all
efforts to trace them have thus far
proven futile. The work was done
by two men, and they first visited
the store conducted by Wayne
Towger on Cayuta street. Entrance
was effected by breaking in the
flimsy panel of the front door.
The store, which is a small one,
was completely ransacked and
everything was turned upside down.
The thieves secured 16 sacks of
granulated sugar, 600 cigars, 400
penaies, a quantity of plug tobacco,
$100 in postage stamps, and a
number of stamped envelopes
They next went to the store con-
ducted by George Wilson. This,
