WILL SAVE WOMEN
MUCH LABOR
Patent Dish Dryer Invented by
Waverly Woman Promises to
be a Great Labor Saving Device
One of the latest labor saving
devices, which promises to be of
lasting benefit to women who are
compelled to do their own house
work, is a patent dish dryer, ins
vented and patented by Mrs. Jennie
Daly, of No. 125 Chemung street,
Waverly, N. Y. Mrs. Daly, who is
not in the best of health, has for
some time been working on a plan
whereby dishes can be nicely dried
without the use of a towel, and
after much hard work and persist-
ent thought has at last perfected
and placed upon the market a
simple yet elective, article for do-
ing this work. The dryer is about
the size of a large pail, and has
perforated sides, The construction
of the dryer is based on a scientific
principle, and its operation is so
simple that a child can use it as
well as a grown person. Those
who are interested in the labor-
saving device should either call
upon or write Mrs, Daly, who will
be glad to explain it in detail.

Woman Says Holmes Broke Up
Furniture and Then Threat-
ened Their Lives
Thomas Holmes, who at one
time rua a saloon in Athens and
was possessed of considerable
property, but who has recently
given the police at Milltowncon-
siderable trouble, on account of his
disposition to gel drunk and tear
things up, was before Justice C. S.
Gay this morning on a charge of
surety of the peace. The com-
plainant in the case alleges that last
night Holmes was at the home of
Mrs. Sarah Puff, of Milltown, and
that while there he proceeded to
demolish the furniture, and not
content with this he is alleged to
have threatened the life of the in~
mates. Officer Sisson was called,
but when he arrived Holmes had
left the house and later was found
lying along the street asleep. The
officer placed him under arrest and
brought him, to the lockup where
he spent the night. This morning
when arraigned he was in a deplor-
able condition. The prosecution
was represented by District Attors
ney Mills, while Attorney Paul
Maynard looked after the interests
of the prisoner. At the conclusion
of the hearing Holmes was held to
the next term of court in the sum
of $250 bail. M. H. Sawtelle quali-
fied as bondsman and Holmes was
released.

NIGHT PROWLING
There is no doubt that a large
per cent. of the degredation, diss
grace, ruin and crime among the
young springs from the habit of
night prowling, corner loafing and
kindred acts by both sexes, in
city, town and hamlet all over this
broad” country, Any person who
keeps his or her eyes open knows
this. Hundreds of boys and girls
are out at night and we all know
that many influences for evil and
none for good surround them con-
tinually.

Visitors Defeated in Saturday's
Game by a Score of Eight to
Two
A very interesting game of ball
was played on the Riverside
grounds Saturday afternoon be-
tween a local aggregation and the
team from Kane, Pa, which is
staying in town for a couple of
weeks for practice. The home
team proved to be superior in
nearly every department of the
game and defeated the Kaneites by
a score of 8 to 2. Cotter pitched
a fine game for the locals and kept
the hits well scattered. M. Madi
gan held down third base in fine
shape, and made the only home
run of the game by a long fly to
right field,
The visiting team showed poor
team work at times and made sev
eral errors when they were costly.
The Sayre team played together
well and succeeded in bunching
hits when needed. After the game

HOYT'S “A BUNCH OF KEYS”
Chas, Hoyt has ever wielded a
keen but kindly pen in satirizing
the fads of everyday life, but in
none of them has he been happier
than in the satire of hotel life. In
this comedy from the entrance of
the Harum Scarum Teddy to the
final curtain he displays his keen
wit and plays on the many eccens
