At his Henniger, of Auburn, two sisters, and his uncle, Frank Daniels, the Lehigh engineer, who resides at stricken on Tuesday morning last at his room in the Wilbur house. He did not rise for breakfast, and at noontime one of the dining room girls went to his room to ascertain why he did not get up. She found him lying in bed in an unconscious condition. Dr. Theo- dore Wright was immediately sum- moned and found that Mr. Hen niger was suffering from a stroke of apoplexy. For a time he seemed to improve, but on Thursday his condition became such that it was deemed advisable to take him to the hospital. “He sank gradually, and his death occurred as stated above. The deceased was born August 14, 1848, and came to Sayre in 1872. He commenced work for the Lehigh Valley railroad com- pany as a brakeman, and later was promoted to fireman, at which occupation he was employed for a number of years. Recently he had been employed running the electric motor which operates the turntable at the Lehigh Valley round house, He was a general favorite among the railroad men from the fact that he was genial and wore a pleasant smile. The funeral occurred this after- noon from the Lutheran church, the Rev, E. N. Beysher officiating, The burial took place at Tioga Point cemetery. A large number from this place attended the performance of “Ben Hur" at Elmira on Saturday even- ing. John McAsee, formerly of the Park hotel, is now at Leahey's in Athens. John is a first class fellow and has a large following in the three towns. The funeral samc grave. et —— mg SWINGING DOOR DAMAGED COACH Lehigh Valley Passenger Train No. 8 Met With Accident Near Batavia This Morning A Pullman coach attached to Lehigh passenger train 8, which is due at Sayre at 8:50a m., met with an accident this morning near Ba tavia which resulted in one of the windows near the front end being completely demolished while the side of the car was badly damaged Batavia it passed a freight train. On one of the cars of the freight train 2 side door had become de- tached and was swinging to and fro. The door crashed against the Pullman, smashed out a window, and defaced the entire side of the car, Fortunately there were no passengers seated near the window and no one was injured. FUNERAL OF FRED COX The funeral of Fred Cox, who was killed in the Coxton yards on Friday morning, was held from the Methodist church yesterday after- noon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. J. F, Warner, pastor of the church, of- ficiated and the Brotherhood of Railroad Conductors had charge of obsequies. The remains were taken to Tioga Point for burial. BUSINESS MEN'S MEETING The regular monthly meeting of the Business Men's association will be held Tuesday instead of Wed nesday evening of this week.
