The car is known among railroaders as the “Strang gas elec tric” Railway men describe it succinctly as a combined coach and power on wheels. A trip is now being made across the continent with one of these cars as an cxperiment. The cost of one in $20,000. Now that the Lehigh road has reason to believe that there will be competition from the Auburn & Ithaca Traction Company they are determined to protect their own interests and the outcome of the matter may be the purchase of two | of these cars to place on the A. & I. branch. In the churches women keep their hats on. Is it because they and the men do not care what is going on and because it is more conducive to sweet slumber unobserved ? Women should remove their hats in all public halls, especially such coal scuttle, flattened out circus tents as they are wearing at present. WILL ORGANIZE LODGE F. E. The eastern end of the new bridge will probably be located near the point where the present onc now stands, but the west end will be considerably farther up the river. By constructing the bridge in this manner the heavy curve will be climinated, a fact which will be greatly appreciated by the officials of the road, as it means an immense saving, The upper Towanda station, however, will be torn down, and a new one erected at East Towanda, Whether this will be of advantage to those desiring to get in amd out of Towanda remains to be seen. It is quite probable that the new bridge and station will be con structed this summer, as there is every evidence that the officials of the Lehigh are planning to push the work along rapidly. The bridge will be erected on the most approved plan and when completed will probably be one of the finest of its kind in the state. It is said that the Lehigh is also plan- ning for a fine station, Samuel Brouthal is spending a few days among friends and rela tives at Weatherly, Mrs. George Ridgeway of To- wanda, was the guest of Mrs, C, |.
