It Went Out of Business Last
Night and Is No More
The Movanho club is.no more.
The organization went out of busi-
ness last night and it has ceased to
exist. A meeting was held by the
members and it decided to surrend-
er the charter and quit. This
decision was arrived at after the
matter had been under discussion
for at least three weeks. Part of
the members were in favor of re-
taining a semblance of an organi-
zation and thereby preserve the
charter and its provision but the
majonty said no and the club
henceforth ceases to exist. Last
night the money in the treasurer's
hands was divided equally among
the 32 members in good standing,
the rooms vacated and in fact
every act that was necessary to
completely wipe the club out ‘of
existence was performed. The
money that each person received
as his share of the treasury receipts
will not be enough to buy a liné of
ocean steamers nor will it acquire
a warranty deed of a brownstone
front, but one of the members this
morning stated he expected to liq
uidate a week's board bill at least
WILL BE A CANDIDATE
Hon. Giles M. Coons, a former
member of the legislature, is in
Sayre today on business of special
importance. Mr. Coon's visit to
Sayre is for the purpose of inter-
esting local capitalists in the form-
ation of a syndicate for the pur-
chase of a 10,000 acre tract of tim-
ber land located in Florida.
While here Mr. Coon announced
candidate for the State legislature,
and belcives that this time his
chances for success are excellent,
His recored is well known to the
citizens of Bradford county as be.
ing of the clean type and his refus-
al to besmirch that record two
years ago at which time he made a
canvass for the place, is beleived
to have been one of the causes for
his defeat
Mr. Coon's candidacy for the
legislature will be looked upon
with favor by the rank and file of
the Republican party, and as stated
previously he is more than likely
to come in on the home stretch a
winner.
COD PERFORMANCES
Two very entertaining perform-
ances were given by the Champlin
Stock Company at the Loomis yes-
terday alternoon and evening. The
company has been playing at El.
mira all the week until last night
when they were compelled to lay
off on account of the appearance
of Viola Allen. Mr. Champlin and
his company visited Waverly a
year ago, but since that visit he
has greatly improved his organiza.
tion, until now it is recognized as
one of the best repertoire compas
nies on the road. The perform-
ances yesterday were witnessed by
large crowds.
