Farmers Buy Birds.
The farmers’ clubs of England give
a high price for magples, jays and
other birds that prey on eggs and
Sedglings. The result is an sboaormal
number of small birds that damage the
crops. Al a recent meeting of the
board of agriculture In England the
experts could not agree as to whether
birds, on the whole, did more good
than harm.

The syndicate which runs the sa

Bird-Surgery.
From time to time birds have been
discovered with brokem limbs, which
have apparently beem bound up and
set artificially. It has been suggested

The young friends ol Frederica
Brown gave her a pleasant surprise
Wednesday evening at her home
on Troy street in honor of her
sixteenth birthday anniversary.
There were about twenty-five pres-
ent and she was taken completely
by surprise. They had a most
pleasant evening and an clegant
supper was served.

Athens—Last night at about 8
o'clock a platform wagon was driv-
en up Main street on the west side
of the street, and when in front of
White's milk station they were run
into by some party driviog a horse
and buggy down street, when a
general snashup enssed. Mr.
White assisted the men in-straight-
ening up things, but the pole was
broken from the wagon and a cross
beam fromy the buggy.
