CONDUCTOR FINED
An Erie freight conductor has
been fined $10 and costs for hold
ing his train on a crossing in the
city of Elmira for a space of 23
minutes. The conductor gave
himself up when he learned that a
warrant had been issued for his
arrest. He pleaded guilty and
paid the fine. The recorder served
notice that every offense of a simi-
lar nature would meet with prompt
punishment.

Benefit of Martin Galliger
Twenty Lehigh Valley railroad
men have each volunteered to
separate with one square imch of
<kin for the benefit of Martin Galli-
ger, the conductor who
fnghtfully burned in the boiler ex-
plosion which occurred at Van
Ettenville few weeks
On Galliger's body there
twenty square inches of burned
flesh which can only be healed
with the skin grafting process
Recently Master Mechanic Kells |
visited the hospital and learned 1a
order for Galliger to get well it
would be necessary to secure the
consent of some one to furnish the
cuticle. Accordingly Mr, Kells!
said that he would volunteer as
one. It was decided to ask for
volunteers and with few exceptions |
the necessary number of men were |
secured who will submit to the
surgeon's knife and when he has
finished they will be minus one
square inch of skin which will be
grafted to the burned surface of
Galliger's body. This process
will be repeated until the entire
burned section covered. The
work will not all be accomplished
at once, however, but from time to |
time, as the patient is physically
ablg to stand it.

of Laceyville, fell from a barn
which he was assisting in shingling
yesterday and sustained a fracture
of the skull Peet fell a distance
of twenty fect and landed on his)

crushed in and for a time it was
feared that he had sustained fatal
injuries. He was brought to the
Packer hospital last night, where
the depressed bones in the skull
were raised from the brain, and to
day itis thought that his chances
