Knowlton, a wealthy Cornell undergraduate. Miss Sullivan's marriage is the culmination of a romance which began with a coasting accident which occurred in Ithaca about a year ago. Mr. Knowlton and a party of friends were coasting on down the slope missed his bearings and plunged the party into a curb Several of the party were seriously injured and among them Mr. Medical examination disclosed the fact that he was quite seriously injured and instructions were given to have him sent to the nearest hospital. He was taken Jo the hospital and the care that was bestowed upon him by one of the nurses in the institution was of such a character that after he had been restored to health Mr. Knowl- ton decided that he could no longer do without it. The nurse whose ministrations were partly responsible for his recovery was Miss Sullivan. A courtship fol- lowed and on Wednesday last cul- minated in a wedding. MAY BE MAUDE BAYES The residents of Callicoon in Wayne county are more or less excited over the appearance of a strange girl about 12 years old, who, it is said, has been living in a barn and has been acting as though demented. There is a suspicion that she may be Maude Haynes, the young Susquehanna girl who disappeared from her parents’ home in that place nearly three weeks ago. Captain W. B. Glass of the Erie police force, and the police of Susquehanna have been notified. RECEIVED INVITATION The members of the Sayre Aerie of Eagles have received an invitat~ ion from the Aerie at Geneva, N. Y., to attend an entsrtainment and smoker to be given in that city on tomorrow evening. Similar invis tions have also been received by the Elmira, Ithaca and Waverly Eagles, and the Geneva organiza’ tion is making preparations to give the visitors a royal time. FUNERAL TOMORROW The funeral of Mrs. Emma Knapp, whose death occurred on Friday last, will be held from her late home on o'clock, the Rev. J. F. War ner, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. The remains will be Mrs Caroline H. Newell, Aged 94 Years, 7 Months and 20 Days, Expired Last Night Mrs Caroline H. Newell, aged | 94 years, 7 months and 20 days, | died last night at 7:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O F Smiley of 205 Stevenson street. Mrs Newell had been in failing health for a long time and her death was due to the infirmities accompanying old age. The funer- home tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock, the Rev. J. F. Warner offi- ciating, and the remains will be ‘taken to Springfield, this county for interment. Mrs. Newell's maiden name was Caroline Burr, and she was Sayre's oldest resident, weeks the senior of Miss Spring, who now resides on Mill street, in was named. Mrs. Newell was born May 25, 1811, in Walbraham, was 14 years old her parents drove to Albany, N. Y, sided for a time, and later removed to Rockland, N. Y. From Rock- land Mrs. Newell accompanied her parents to Covington, Tioga county, that time the. country through which they passed was a howling wilderness At the age of 21 She) was married to Calvin Newell w afterward became a minister of ~ gospel, but wha died about twenty years ago. Since the death of A husband Mrs. Newell has been living with her daughter and had been a resident of Sayre about 8 years. She was a woman of many lections of the past were listened to whom she became acquainted She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Amy Gustin, both of whom states. MISSING MAN FOUND George H. Hibbard, who disap peared from his home in Owego nearly a year ago and who was last seen near East Waverly, has been located at Rochester, N. Y. Hib bard's sister, Mrs. J. E. Jones of Owego, received a telegram on Saturday stating that the missing | man was in the city. After his disappearance cvery asylum and county institution in the state was searched, and his friends had given up the task as hopeless.
