I] -—— Hardly Sufficient to Safely of Sayre In view of the burglaries and petty thievery that has been going on in Sayre recently it has been suggested that the council should provide another police officer to do duty nights, One policeman in the business part of the town itis claimed, is hardly sufficient to in- sure fair protection against midnight maurauders and desperadoes Under present conditions Officer Voegel covers the business section including the territory in the First ward on the cast side of the Lehigh tracks. His duties require him to go to the hose house on Packer avenue and report each hour during the night to the central telephone station. [It is an easy matter under there conditions for crooks and theives to keep the officer located at most every hour of the night, whereas, if there were two men patrolling the same territory, there would be less opportunity for cracksmen to do their work. While the Record is not willing to add unnecessary taxation to the taxable inhabitants of the borough it never- theless beleives that this is a ques- tion which should be discussed by the borough council. ENA BUNTING It has been said about Miss Em- ma Bunting, who is to appear at the Loomis next week, that no one has ever seen this charming little lady who did not have a desire to do so again. Her piquant face, fascinating manner and perceptible love of her art, demonstrated by the manner in which she essays her different roles, all leave an everlast- ing and favorable impression. Miss Bunting has the support this season of one of the strongest acting com- panies ever seen at popular prices. The scenic and electrical effects carried by this company are said to eclipse anything ever seen in repertoire, the construction of both having had the personal supers vision of Mr. Earl Burgess. The specialties are exceedingly high class, among them being Herbert P. Powers, the popular comedian, Al. Rayno's troop of bull dogs, the greatest animal act in America; Davis & Walker, colored entertain- acrobatic evolutions. Ladies’ 15¢ tickets have been issued for Mon day evening.
