KREH UTTERED A
WORTHLESS CHECK
Arrest of Man Whom They
Claim Secured Money by
Fraudulent Methods
Athens—Chief Brooks of Wa-
verly yesterday afternoon and ob-
tained a warrant from Justice John-
son for the arrest of Albert Kreh,
charging that he did “falsely, fraud-
ulently and feloniously make, forge
and sign a counterfeit check” for
twenty-five dollars, and that after
he had received the money upon
the same that he had escaped from
The check is number 406, dated
January 1, 1906, and is drawn on
the First National Bank of Sayre,
and is signed Albert Kreh and
made payable to his own order,
Chief Mulligan and Constable Mc
Govern went to South Waverly
and arrested the man last night
and he was lodged in the borough
lockup
He 1s marned, and about 2%
years old. His wife was in Athens
this forenoon and told that he was
in the Elmira Reformatory a short
time ago, but went there on his
own account to learn a trade. He
says that he has lived all around
but has boarded lately in South
Waverly. It was found upon in-
quiry that Kreh passed this check
on T. S. Walker & Son, Waverly,
in payment of a bill and that they
presented it at the bank and found
it worthless,
The prisoner will have a hearing
before Justice Johnson and if the
charges are sustained he will be
held at Towanda for requisition.
