The Louisville (Ky.) “Herald”
says of “Dora Thorne”: “Dora
Thorne is at the Avenue this
week. The dramatization of the
famous novel is even more inter-
esting than the reading of it. The
play of Dora Thorne opens a wider
play upon human emotions and
human passions than perhaps any
melodrama that has been produced
at the Avenue this year. The
reading public is familiar with the
story, the confession of love, the
murder, the pangs of jealously
aroused and the vivid description
of the wages of sin. The scenery
is especially adapted to the pro-
duction of this play.” At the
Loomis tonight.

SCARCITY OF MEN
Company Is Experiencing Diffi-
D.S. & S. Division
The Lehigh Valley Railroad
Company is experiencing consider-
men to run their trains on the D
S. & S. division. Under the Coxe
rule the crew that left Drifton took
the train to Amboy and back. , No
other manner of doing the work
was regarded as feasible, but under
the retrenchment polic y of the
Lehigh Valley a new rule has
been issued. Two brakemen cons
duct the train to Penn Haven,
where the services of the one is
dismissed, and the train proceeds
to Amboy with one brakemen
Already seven men have quit work
and before the week is closed it is
said that it will be hard to secure
enough men to run the trains. On
Tuesday night three trains were
scheduled to go to Amboy but no
brakeman could be found who
would make the run under the new
ruling. Now the men are saying
that the transferring of the Coxe
interests to the Lehigh is not going
to be the big benefit to the railroad
men that has been predicted.
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
Floyd Watts, a Canton man, was
found in an unconscious condition
in a barn on Troy strect in that
place on Tuesday night with his
throat cut, and the circumstances
point to suicide. A small mirror
lay by his side and it is thought he
used this in order to correctly
locate the veins in the neck. He
was at once taken to a doctor's
office and at last accounts it is
thought he will recover.
