Kaufman's Emporium Crowded
- With Eager Buyers Seeking
Bargains.
The mammoth sale of the stock
of H. A. Kaufman, in which $253,
000 worth of new and scasonable
goods is sacrificed to make room
for other goods, is attracting im-
mensec crowds and the bargains are
going fast. On all the atreets and
trolley cars may be seen men and
woman carrying large packages
bearing the H. A. Kaufman busi-
ness card. This sale began yester-
day and will continue one week
longer. It affords an opportunity
The death of Mrs. William 1a
Monte of North Hopkins street oc-
cured at the hospital this noon from
peritonitis and complications fol-
lowing an attack of intestinal strag-
ulation, for which an operation was
performed Thursday evening. Mrs.
LaMonte had been ill since Sun
day night. Previous to that time
she had been in exceptionally good
health, apparently, and her death
comes as an unexpected shock to
her family and many friends. She
was an earnest Christian woman,
well beloved by all who knew her,
and she exhibited a sublime faith
Mrs. LaMoante was-born in Tunk-
hannock, and was the daughter of
George M. and Julia A. Lull, the!
latter of whom survives. She had |
resided in Sayre about 26 years.
Twenty years ago she was mar- |
ried to William LaMonte. She is!
survived by her husband, three
sons, Charles, Edwin and Everett, |
one daugeter, May, two sisters, |
Mrs. R. D. Williams and Miss May |
Lull, and two brothere, George E |
and Howard M. Lull. She was a’
member of the M. E. Church
The fundral arrangements have not
been made, but will be in charge of
J. W. Grumme.
