Heaven, the City Four Saar,
Subject of Discourse by the
Rev. Rees at the Tabernacle
Last Night.
Despite the inclemency of the
weather a goodly audience gather
ed in the Tabernacle last evening.
The text was from John 14:2. “In
my Father's house arc many man-
sions.” In presenting the theme
Mr. Rees emphasized the fact that
heaven is a place, a prepared place,
for a prepared people. The char-
acter of the prepared place was set
forth as the most beautiful and
grand of all dwelling places and
the character of the people was
shown to be those who had pre-
pared themselves. for that place by
coming up and out of the great
tribulations of earth, who have
“washed their robes and made
them white in the blood of the
Lamb.”

MILDRED HOLLAND
Mildred Holland will present her lat-
est success, “The Trinmph of An Em-
press’ at the Loomis, Satunlay, September
16, in which she appears as Catherine
the Great of Russia. 3
Liké most Russian plays it deals vith
political conspiracies that afford plenty
of opportunity for thrilling sitaations,
but it also has a lighter side which prac-
tically comprises the first two acts of
the play, and which contains much of
very enjoyable comedy. Mildred Hol-
land as Empress Catherine dominates
the entire play, and most agreeably so,
for she is an interesting, if wilful, sort
of character. Daring half the play she
is a romping, devil-may-care girl, un-
broken to the harness of court etiquette,
During the other half she is the great
sovereign, with a due appreciation of
her rank and prerogatives, and com-
manding admiration by her majesty and
dignified benevolence.
