peated so often, that the operators In Schuylkill
County cannbt anal to,pay. the 33 basis at Port Car
bon, when we take into consideration the mode of
working their mines compared to those in Lucerne
county. In Schuylkill County a great deal oCthe
coal Is dug or cut by the miner by the yard, vaying
from SID to lillper yard. The yard will produoe to
the big vein. about aemra aversging 2% tons - of Coal,

get 65 cents on the busts, and for taking out one yard
of coal we would - receive the above amount. Where

does seem really strange that all that difference
should be paid, and yet the operators say we can't
afford to pay the, $3 , basis. Inliat, becomes of- the

does, not only-the operators, hut the Reading Rail
road Company In its diapered of the piers at Pert

Vo. against the,Phlladelphla and Reeding W. R. 0o.„
because the latter had refused to allow the formez
to further occupy the pier heretofore aliened to the
firm. The Judge refers to the fact that the plaintli
were the first and largest shippers of eosil over d

scale of magnitude, benefiting both the miner and
the company,. arid the Judge says whatever dispute
there was between Messrs. Audenriad & Co.and the
railroad, was thirsuldect of amicable settlement, and ,
if that could notbe effected there was a remedy by
an appeal Via legal trilmeal, but not of duress per
