of any judicial district composed of two or
more counties, at a meeting ol tho return Judg

In case tho person who shall have receiv
ed the second highest number of votes for
inspector shall not attend on the day of
election, then the person who shall have
received the second highest number of
votes for the next spring election shall
act as inspector in his place ; and in case
the person who shall have received the
highest number of votes for inspector shall
not attend, the person elected Judge shall
appoint an inspector in bis, place; and in
case the person elected judge shall not at
tend, then tho inspector who reoeived tho
highest number of votes shall appoint a
judge in his place, or If any vacancy shall
continue in the board for the space of one
hour after the time fixed by the law for the
opening ofthe election, the qualified voters
ofthe township, ward, or district for which
such officer shall have been elected, pres
ent at the place of election, shall select one
out of their number to fill the vacancy.
Pursuant to the provision contained
in the 7th section ofthe aot first aforesaid,
the judges of the aforesaid districts shall
respectively take charge ofthe certificates
of return ofthe election of their respeotive
districts, and produce them at a meeting of

day ofthe eleotion, being ON FRIDAY,
THE 13th DAY OF OCTOBER; then and
there to do and perform the duties required

Also, that where a judge, by sicknes or
