PROSPECTUS. —"Of making many books there is no end," and the multiplication of newspapers is the popular source of educat ing the people. We are aware that the idea is quite preyelent that Bradford County has too many papers, but with the large number not one is wholy devoted to the interest of the great producing class —the agricultur ists—and at the urgent solicitation of some of the best practical farmers in the county, we have decided to commence about the first of the new year, a local agricultural weekly, especially adapted to the wants of the farmers of this section. The contributors to the paper will embrace the best practical farmers in the county, and we shall aim to make it of real value to every tiller of the soil, dairy lman and stock raiser in the county, by giv ing the results of experiments by those in whom the classes interested have confidence, and whose success in business is an evidence fo thorough practical knowledge. The paper will contain a condensation of the general news and the fullest local notes. Fuller particulars hereafter. Buy the Waverly crackers. Two heating stoves for sale cheap. N. I'. IIICKS. State Superintendent HIGBEK gives it as his opinion of the spirit of the law, that teach ers employed to teach both day and night school ought to be paid as much while atten ding county institute as they would receive should they continue teaching at home. Cole's Great Circus was late.y wrecked on its way to Kansas City. After its arrival there, a Kansas City Times' 1 reporter found John Sawbright, its veterinarian, rubbing the injured animals with St. .Jacobs Oil. He said it was the best remedy known for injuries to horses, and was so very clean to use. MICE THIS WINTER. —Mice are very pro lific; a single pair will often multiply to fiity or more during a single season, as the earlier broods reproduce one or more generations. Usually a large proportion of each summer's The funeral of the late Mrs. JHMES HAR RIS will take place Sunday. Friends will meet at the house at 1:30 and services at Presbyterian church at 2 p. m. The following sensible words from the El mira Advertiser have a local application here as well: Parents and guardians should avail them selves of the long winter evenings wherein to impress the minds and enlist the attention of the boys and girls under tneir especial charge. The twilight and early hours that make up the waking time after supper are the harvest moments for bad influences to grow and thrive in young hearts. The edu cation of the street is always productive of evil. It tends to the formation of habits which lead to a doubtful reputation. How many a bright boy has become proficient in wickedness that might have proven an orna ment to society and a benefit to mankind, had his evenings been spent at home. It is next to impossible for children to run the streets and escape the vices so common to the igno rant and vicious. It is upon the streets at night that the horrid oath is uttered, and the petty quariel is made the pretext for more brutal work, and the first glass leads to irreg ular ways. Home can, with little effort, be made attractive. A few books, juvenile mag azines and papers, with a smile and an occa sional word from their elders, are all that is necessary under ordinary circumstances, to keep within doors children and youth.
