PROSPECTUS.—"Of making many books
there is no end," and the multiplication of
newspapers is the popular source of educat
ing the people. We are aware that the idea
is quite preyelcnt that Bradford County has
too many papers, but with the large number
not one is wholy devoted to the interest of
the great producing class—the-agricultur
ists—and at the urgent solicitation of some of
the best practical farmers in the county, we
have decided to commence about the first of
the new year, a local agricultural weekly,
especially adapted to the wants of the farmers
of this section. The contributors to the
paper will embrace the best practical farmers
in the county, and we shall aim to make it
of real value to every tiller of the soil, dairy
man and stock raiser in the county, by giv
ing the results of experiments by those in
whom the classes interested have confidence,
and whose success in business is an evidence
fo thorough practical knowledge.
The paper will contain a condensation of
the general news and the fullest local notes.
Fuller particulars hereafter.

The following paragraph from the last
Churchman will be read with pleasure by
many of our readers, who still cherish a live
ly interest in the Rev. B. J. DOUGLASS, who
was for so long a period the beloved rector
of Christ Church this place, lie is now loca

GEORGETOWN — Nt. Paul's Church.—- Af
ter having been closed several months for re
pairs tliis church (the Rev. Benjamin J.
Douglas, rector) was opened for divine ser
vices on Sunday, November 13th. The Dish
op of the diocese was present on the occasion,
and delivered the sermon, after which the
llolv Communion was celebrated. The rec
tor was also assisted by the Rev, George W.
Johnson. In the evening the bishop address
ed the Sundav-Bohool, and the Rev. Mr Mc-
Kim, a former rector, preached. Services
were held on Monday and Tuesday, when
sermons and addresses were delivered by the
Rev. Messrs. Gibson, Dubois, Spencer, and
the rector.

"1 was confined to my bed for four months
siys Mr. Charles Lowe, 508 East Eighteenth
street, New York, "with the rheumatism,
and can say that the use of three bottles of St.
Jacobs Oil made me a sound man. Disre
garded here as the greatest remedy of the
age."
Lust Sunday morning Mr. AMOS W. JACK
SON, of Chatham township, was brought to
this borough and lodged in jail upon a charge
of forgery. We understand that JACKSON,
who is about 2J years of age, went to Mans
field a few days ago and presented a note at
Ross & WILLIAMS'S bank, hearing the name
of S. P. SPAULDING, of Hammond, who, he
claimed was his father. The note was dis
counted, and lie obtained S2OO and left. The
note was afterwards discovered to be a for
gery, and JACKSON was traced up and arres
ted at Towanda last Saturday, in a plioto
geuph gallery where he and his cousin, a
young lady, were having their pictures
"drawed out." The prisoner was taken to
Mansfield, and an examination was hold the
same day before .Justice ADAMS. JACKSON
pleaded guilty to the charge, and an officer
brought him to jail the next morning. We
learn that half the money was recovered.—
