Personal.
Mrs CRANMER, of Monroeton, was visit
her mother on Chesnut street yesterday,
Mrs. A. J. EASTABROOK, who has been
quite ill for some time past is convalescent.
E. G.GOODING and Mr. IIORTON, of Horn-
Brook, called at the REVIEW office yester
day.
L)r. MERRICK, and Mr. COLE, of the Tunk
hannock Worker, were callers at this office
yesterday.
J. D. KINNEY of Warren Center, tb's
county, sent two turkeys to the " Home for
Friendless Children," Wilkesßarre, l'iiunks
giving.
Mr. R. N. MANNERS of Waverly was in
Towanda yesterday. His crackers are now
the favorites in this market and are sold by
STEVENS & LONG.
Attorney F. M. NICAOLS says that the new
song that enlivens the nursery down at his
house is sweeter than the discord of political
promises. Its a girl and a week old. — If ilkes
Barre Union Leader,
D. R. LATIIROP, late of Bernice, and whose
"local habitation" is now at Montrose, s in
town. We wish some inducement might he
offered to secure him as a citizen of this
place.
Our good friends Mr. and Mrs. S. C. NA
GLEE are once more installed in their pleas
ant home at Monroeton. The REVIEW joins
with their many friends and neighbors in ex
pending to them a most cordial welcome.

The Troy Farmers Club will to-day dis
cuss the puestion whether or not they estab
lish a creamey in that town.
DANIEL O'BOYLE, one of our oldest and
most highly esteem id Irish citizens, died on
Wednesday evening and was buried yester
day.
The Ladies Foreign Missionary Society of
the Piesbyterinn Church will meet this after
noon at 3 o'clock at the house of AUGUST
KLINE.
The Women's Foreign Missionary Society
of the 31. E. Church will meet this afternoon
at 3 o'clock at the residence of O. J.
CIIUBBUCK on Houston St.

EDWARD RAYNSFORD, Esq., at one time a
prominent business man in this village, died
in Sayre, Pa., on Sunday last, of smallpox.
He was about sixty-nine years old, and had

evening will without doubt he one of the most
enjoyable social events of the season and, as
everybody is invited the house should be
tilled. Mrs. MACFAULANE will do her part to
render the evening enjoyable. .
We are in receipt of the November and De
cember numbers of Staaltiehl's 10 cent inusi
cal libraries. Among their contents are pro
ductions of Borrow, Frewin, Andran,Gonod,
Wely, Ilucken, and Garfield's funeral march,
by Gilmore. These publications form an in
valuable acquisition to any musical library.

Prof. DANIELLE'S classes will continue ev
ery Thursday, afternoun and evening' until a
change can he made to Fridays. Lessons at
4:30 and 7:30 for beginners, and from 8:30 to
11, an Assembly for all. All who can do so,
are privileged to attend both the afternoon
and evening ieesons and the Assemblies, as
well, for the one charge of $5 for ladies and
children and $0 for gentlemen. The Profes
sor teaches all the dances in the one course
of lessons.
The success of a " social" or mite society,
both as to enjoyment of the occasion and the
amount of "collateral" realized, depends

predict that the Universalist Social to he held
at the residence of M. J. LONG, Esq., corner
3d and Houston streets, on Tuesday evening
next, will he admitted by all—and it looks
now as though everybody would he there—
as one of the pleasantest events of the season*

Miss Dora Wheeler of New York was

About 550 locomotives will have been
built at the Baldwin locomotive works at
Philadelphia by the end of the current

It isn't profitable for Baltimore jurors
to be late in court. Judge Gilmor fined
one who was ten minutes behind time
S2O last week.
200 delegates attended the opening of
the Methodist Conference at Selma, Ala.,
yesterday. Bishops Simpson and Pierce
were among the delegates.
Mrs. Bright-Eves Tibbies, the Ponca
bride, has been visiting Sitting Bull at
Fort Randall. She is trying to bring the
old heathen out of the land of darkness.
The second day of the National Tariff
Convention in New York was mainly
occupied by brief speeches favoring an
increased tariff. Resolutions were adop
ted asking Congress to appoint a com
mission to revise the tariff laws.
