NATHAN TIDD was called to Plainfield, N.
J., this week by the death of a friend.
Mrs. L. M. WOODRUFF is an invalid and is
spending a few weeks with her brother, C.
N. BEERS in Orwell.
RALPH VAUGHN, late operator at Wyalu
sing, has a good and responsible position in
the office at Sugar Notch.
Mr. I). M. VAN TUYL, wife and daughter,
from Penn Yann, N. Y., are visiting at ,J. R.
KITTRIDGE'S for a few days.
E. B. COOI.BAUGH, J. 11. CODDING and
S. W. BUCK, acted as clerks in counting the
election returns yesterday.
Col. LOCKWOOD, of New York, proprietor
of the Black Walnut Stone quarry has been
spending a few days at the works.
MOTT NicnoLS, formerly of this place,
occupies a lucrative and responsible position
in the U. P. rail road office, Omeha. Neb.
Principal BENEDICT and bis assistants and
W. A. PLUMMEU are in town on their way
to Teacher's Association in Mouroeton.
ROBERT MANNERS, the cracker manufac
turer of Waverly, is a guest at the Elwell
house this morning. Ilis crackers have an
excellent reputation in the market.
R. R. WILSON, the energetic representative
of the Elmira Sunday Tidings , was in town
yesterday looking after the interests of that
popular new candidate for journalistic fame*
D. A. LAMENT of Last Troy, had a severe
shock of paralysis last week in the left side
of his face. He is under the care of Dr.
WILDER, and is slowly improving.—Regis
ter.
Prof. S. F. ACKLEY and wife of Spring
Ilill, lately celebrated their tin wedding. It
was a pleftsant affair, largely attended, and
many presents were bestowed upon the wor
thy couple. Mr. ACKLEY is a musician of
some note, having composed music that oc
cupies a place in standard works.
Rev. Mr. WALKER is conducting a revival
meeting in Grange Hall, North Towanda. Wc
are glad to learn be is meeting with suc
cess.
Hon. 11. L. SCOTT, trustee, will sell the bal
ance of the Mason real estate at auction on
Thursday December 1 at 1 o'clock p. m. Par
ticulars hereafter.
F. 11. HAGKKMAN of Asylum has presented
the M. E. church of that place. \#!th a large
bell, weighing 800 pound.*, and the venerable
F. Y. Ho MET has presented the congregation
with slate to re-roof the building.
Speaking of Oysters, we have a word to
say in regard to the manner in which S. B.
TIDD serves them. He keeps the largest
•ones, and gets them up MI the very best stvle.
He has fitted up elegant rooms for his custo
mers.
The clerks did not complete the official ta
bles of the election returns last evening.—
Through the courtesy of tho Reporter we
are enabled to give the vote for the principal
candidates and will add details to-morrow. —
BAILY'S plurality is a little over 1300; WEBB
has 333 majority and WOLPE polled 1510
votes.
The last candidate for the office of county
treasurer, Mr. Charles A. Miller, of Oummis
ville (Cincinnati), Ohio, says: "I have had
