Excellent taste is not only required to dress
a show window handsomely, but line goods
are equally necessary. At M. E. ROSEN
FIELD'S Clothing store both are displayed
most a tractively, the exhibit of neckwear,
suspenders and gents' furnishing goods being
particularly conspicuous. The windows we
not only attractive, but their dressing is pro
nouncedly metropolitan.
MONROETON ITEMS.—On the 22d inst , the
puritanic stock, allied by blood and marriages,
to Mrs. 1). I'luine, made their fourth annual
surprise visits at the Monroe Grotto, in full
force and with great success. Suffice it to
say the dav was line, the surprise was com
plete, the presents the best productions of
forest and held. The table of their own sup
plying was rich and delicious, and the din
ner was hugely enjoyed by more than twen
ty as good-natured beings as ever sat face to
face. Some 15 persons were from Itome:
some from Greenwood, and some from Mon
roe. Thanks. I'lease call again, N. d. r.
THE BOUNDARY SURVEY.—In 1870 the
New York Survey commenced the work of
re-establishing the boundary line between
New York and Pennsylvania. This line was
lirst run nearly a hundred years ago and at
that time was a formidable undertaking as
the party found very few, if any clearings
between the Delaware river and lake Erie.
Their work was very accurately done, con
sidering the difficulties they had to meet and
the imperfection of the instrument they had
to work with
The boundary line was supposed to be es
tablished on the 42d parallel, but there were
some deviations which the present survey do
not intend to change. Two of the greatest
deviations occur at Wellsburg and Great
Bend, at one of which places the boundary
line is above nine hundred feet from the par
allel.
The survey was completed in '7O and at
present a party under charge of Maj. 11. W*
GLAIMC of Syracuse New York, is placing the
''monuments" marking the boundary.
The monuments are only to be placed
across this valley the present fall, and the
work to be completed in the spring. They
are placed one mile apart and also at every
important road.— 11 'acerb/ Review.

goes to New York this week to buy new I
goods.
