The only important case disposed of by the
Court yet. is that of the Commonwealth vs.
WIIKKLKK. The defendant was charged with
an attempt to take the life of L. D. FORREST,
of Smithtiold. The jury returned a verdict
of guilty. _

TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION. —lnasmuch
the trains on the S. L. & S. R. It. do not
run at times to accommodate persons atten
ding the Association except for the Friday
evening session, resort to other ways of con
veyance will he necessary which bear in mind.
Persons coming to Towanda by rail can he
accommodated at reasonable rates by apply
ing to S. L. Arnold or E. E. Buffington, eith
er personally or by letter. The larger the
number desiring to go the better the rates.

—The next meeting of the Bradford
County Teachers' Association will he held at
New Albany, Sept. 9th and 10th in-t*.

for an article which ought to find a ready

The fifth annual encampment of the Grand
Army of the Republic of Bradford county
and vicinity, and soldiers and sailors, will be
held on the fair grounds, in East Towanda.
on the lltb, 12th and 13th days of October,
1881. It is earnestly requested that the dif
ferent Posts, and the soldiers and sailors, will
lend their aid in making this encampment a
grand success. General orders will be issued

CALKINS' EMBROCATING EMUL
SION—J. F. Calkins ban been traveling in
the interest of I)r. 6. L. Stevens, ot the city of
Cleveland, Ohio, and in the past throe years has vis
ited all the cities and principle towns of our State.
IliH business has brought him in acquaintance with

gathered a number of valuuble prescriptions from

weeks at a time.
A lady in Monroe Township sprained her ankle
so severely that she was obliged to keep her foot on

in three days she wus doing her house work, and
was at once cured. An old citizen of Ithaca was
afflicted With a pain in his side. He could find
nothing to relieve him. He wes induced to use the
