Mr. and Mrs. It. It. ROCKWELL are visiting
friends in Monroe and Franklin.
Dr. J. W. LYMAN was registered at the
Bingham House, Philadelphia yesterday.
ALONZO STRYKER, wife and daughter, of
Bingbamton, are visiting at Prof. RYAN'S.
Mrs JOHN MCINTOSII has returned from
Rochester, where she went to visit her daugh
ter.
Miss WINNIE DAYIES has returned to EL
mira college, where she enters the senior
class.
Miss MARY Il.iuiuxsaud her brother WIL
LIE, have returned to their home in Wilkes-
Barre.
C. J. ALLEN, of the foundry, accompanied
by his little son, started for Michigan last
evening.
Mr. KENDALL, of the Nail Mill.has been
on the sick list for a day or two, but. is not
confined to bis room.
Mrs. LIZZIE MONTANYI: and daughter, and
Mrs. HELEN TII>I> and daughter are spend
ing this week in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. MOSIIER, of Milan, are, in
town. Mrs. M. is a sister of Mr. JOHN
STRYKER, and they are here to at ten I his
wedding.
Col. 11. LUTHER is able to get about by the
aid of crutches, and was in town yesterday.
We hope to be able to announce his complete
restoration soon.
Misses FLORENCE aud XKX V SPALDING left
yesterday morning for a visit with relatives
in Corning, Woodhuli and other places in
New York state.
Mrs. IIAMSDKLL of Kloiira. is visiting her
loster parents, Mr. and Mrs. LLKNUY KlNCis
-IJUKY, on Second street. She is accompanied
by her son and daughter.
B. W. WELLINGTON and sister Miss KATE
WELLINGTON are in town to attend the wed
ding of Miss MORGAN and Mr. STRYKER.
Thev are guests of Mrs. W. 11, MORGAN, on
Main street.
We learn from the Duratigo, Colorado, h'co
ord of a recent date, that our towsinan, Capt*
MCKKE who is spending the sunimer|in the
far west has accepted a situation there.
That paper says:
"ROBERT MCKEK of Towanda, Bradford
county, Pa., has charge of the mason work
on 11. B. CARTER'S new store, which, as
heretofore stated, is to be otic of the largest
in town, being 50\l(K> feet in dimensions, and
two stories high.''
The wedding of Miss LEWIS and Mr.
OLMSTKAD in Wyso.v, on Tuesday morning
last, was a quiet but most pleasant affair.
The ceremony was witnessed only by the rel
atives and immediate friend" of the parties.
The bride was the recipient of many costly
and beautiful presents. In her traveling dress
of myrtle green she looked charmingly beau
t ful. After an elegant breakfast the bridal
party took their departure oil a northward
bound train.
Mr. OLMSTE.VD will take his now bride to
his home m Union, X. Y. We extend our
hearty congratulations, and return thanks for
a generous supply of wedding cako.
New York State Fair at Klinira ucxt week.

Three hundred meals were, eaten at the
Klwell House on Tuesday.
We are compelled to go to press without
the Court Proceedings this morning because
the person on whom we had depended to
furnish them disappointed as.

Troy Farmers' Club Fair will be held'on
their grounds on the 21st, 22d and 23d of this
month.
Don't forget the excursion to Maueh
Chunk early next month. Those who wen
last year will all want to go again.
The crossing in front of the 99 cent store
is in a dangerous condition. A lady with a
babe in her arms fell there the other day.
Revs. J. B. FRENCH, of TROYVUML DAVID
CRAFT, of Wyalusing, will deliver addresses
at the Odd Fellows pic nie, Sugar Run, to
morrow.
The 50th Regiment Pennsvlvania Veteran
Volenteers, are to have their Annual reunion
here on the 12th of October. Col. OVERTON
IS President of the association.
Oats are not turning out as well as they
promised. A Burlington farmer who expect
ed a thousand bushels only had about live
hundred when he thrashed them.
Are you preparing something for the Fair ?
The people, and especially the ladies of To
wanda should see that the Art department
and Floral Hall are made attractive.
Religious services will be held at McKee's
Hall, West Warren, on Saturday evening
September 10th, at 7 :30, Rev. M, KINGSBURY

The President's Condition.
The President Recovers from the Fatigue
of the Journey.
Yesterday was the warmest day of the
season at Long Branch, but the President
passed a comfortable day, and apparent
ly was . entirely recovered from the fa
tigue of his long journey. The physi
cians were highly gratified at his hopeful
symptoms. He passed a comfortable
night his fever having subsided last even
ing.

The President slept most of the night
awakeiug however to take nourishment.
This morning his symptoms arc normal
and he appears to have recovered from fa
tigue of his journey. Pulse 106; temper
ature 98.4 ; respiration 18. Next bulletin

6 P. M.
Notwithstanding the exceptional hea
of the weather, the thermometer in the
President's room rising to 94 at 3 :30 this
p. M., there w is a breeze most of the day,
so that the President was comparatively
comfortable, lie has taken nourishment
regularly and slept at intervals during
the day. At 12:15 p. M., the pulse was
114, temperature 98.4, respiration 18.—
Since then there has been some rise in
temperature, though less than yesterday,
and the pulse has somewhat diminished
in frequency. At tnc evening dressing
the appearance of the wound was fuyor
able. At present his pulse is 108, tem
perature 101, res Deration 18.
The President will now proceed to get
well.
The condition of the crops In England
is very bad.
The people of New York will have a
season of special prayer in behalf of the
President to-day.
The news of the safety of General Carr
aud most of his men brings satisfaction
to the entire country.
The republican state convention meets
in Harrisburg to-day for the nomination
of a candidate for State Treasurer.
To-morrow will be the 31st anniversa
ry oi the admission of California as a
State into the Union! The event will be
celebratod by the "Old Californians" of
New York and vicinity.
The American residents os Lima aud
Callao haye signed a paper to the effect
Minister Christiancy thoroughly behaved
himself while in Peru ; and when a man is
as mad as lie is that is a good deal to say.
