Friday August 12th, they went to Ovvego rnd beat the Ovvego Club by a score of 31 o 13. In the Waverly game the Sayre's made 12 runs in the second innings, and at Owe ;o they made 15 runs in the seventh im't?;. s. They are a musuclar lot of young men and are strong baiters. Scott and Lang be'tig especially noted for ternfic batting. The Club is made up as follows: Walker, C.; \\iedaw, P.; Scott, Ist. B.; Lang, 2d. B.; Uo'comb, 3d. B.; Lamont, L. F.; lleavener, C. F.; Bees lev, R. F.; Smith, S. S. They challenge any club in Bradford Co., to pla for the championship of the County, and would be pleased to hear from the Winona's. Qai'e a good deal of interest has been mani- this week in the proceedings had at the Br; dford House, South Waverly borough, in le'a 'on to the assessment of damages done Ju the construction of the N.Y.L. & W.R.R. hrough the farm known as the HARRIS MI'R RAY farm. On application of the MURRAYS e Court rt Towanda appointed the follow r , named gentlemen: lion. C. S. RUSSELL, J. 11. CODDING, Esq., GEO. 11. VANDIKE, EDWARD WALKER and WM. SNYDER, com m'ss'oners to view, assess and report the i amazes above referred to to the Court at the September term. The commissioners met for the first time o Tuesday, and after being duly sworn by the sheriff- PETER J. DEAN, took a stroll over ' e lands and then convened at the Bradford House for the purpose of taking testimony on 'he value of the lands, etc. JOHN F. SANDER x, E q., of the law firm of OVERTON & SANDERSON, appeared as counsel for the "or 'he -petitioners, the MURRAY'S, and Messrs PECK & OVERTON appointed rail ro d company, and also for Hon. A. C. HOWARD, of Providence, 11. 1., who claims 'o own the land in question, subject only to he l'fe estate of Mrs. MURRAY, relict of the HARRIS MURRAY, deceased. The testimony o! witnesses on the question of va'ue of land was amusing to say.the least, so ac of them putting the price at S4OO to SSOO per acre, and others calling it from sl,- ( oto $2,0J0 per acre. How judgments dif c! From the points taken by the counsel, we op'ne that a long and costly litigation in re u ! on to the ownership of the property will be indulged in bv the petitioners and Gov. HOWAUD. It would not be wise for us now to attempt to g.'ess how the matter will end, except t „t the lawyers will do a great deal of hard work, and of course be handsomely remuner ated therefor, as they ought to be.— Waverhj Free Press.
