GENERAL ORDER XO. 9.
I. General Order No 4 from Division Head
quarters fixes the time for the Encampment
from August 23d to August 29th 1881, at
Wilkesßarre, Pa.
11. Transportation, camp and garrison
equipage, and subsistence wi:l be fuitii*lied.
111. The annual inspection by the Adjutant
General, during said encampments is announ
ced to take place on.Thursday Angus' 23th,
at 3 p. in.
IV. The Brigade will bo rev ewed by the
Commander-in-Chief on Saturday August 27th
at 4 p.m.
V. The Commander-in-Chief, in General
Order No. 12. annQuncos the following:
"The inspection will be rigorous. Espeeial
attention will be given to care and condition
of clothing and equipments, and number of
articles of caeli on band. All rolls must be
completed as near as may be betoie leaving
the rendezvous. These encampments are
held under Hie provisions of, and by authori
ty of the law. It is mandatory, and requires
tiie attendance of all who hold commissions
or are s'erving a term of enlistment.
" Excuses for absence will be entertained
for such reasons only as would prevail in ac
tual service. Officers and wen can only be
absent, from this service by permission of the
Brigade Commander.
•• To be effective and instructive, the en
campment demands the continuous attend
ance of each individual for the whole time
provided for. There will be no payment loi
partial service. If a leave of absence or fur
ioii 'h be granted upon surgeon's certificate or
difability. where the disability arises in camp,
or by reason of serious illness or death in the
soldier's faniilv, occurring while he is on his
lour of duty, the payment will be in lull."
VI. The encampment will occupy but six
days, and you will receive pav for live, re
quiring you to lose one day only. In accord
ance with orders from headquarters,none can
be excused from the attendance at this en
campment, except by the Brigade Command
er.
VII. All line* and dues for non-attendance j

VIII. The book. "The Sentinel and his
Duties," will le issued to each member of
the company, as company property. A care

cer* and men must understand guard mount
ing and their duties, while serving a tour of
guard. Hereafter members of the company
will be reprimanded or punished for ignor
ance of Guard mounting or the duties of a
si liluiel.
IX. The members of the company will re
port at the Armory on Saturday, 20 of Au
gust. 1881 at one o'clock p. M. sharp for an
out door drill and company parade, with
knapsack, haversack and canteen:

Owing to the severe storm on Friday, the
entertainment advertised to come off in the
grove near Monroetou on Friday, was post
poned until Thursday of this week. Good [
music will be in attendance. Everybody cor-!
dially invited.
The Towanda Baptist Congregation and
Sundav School will hold a "Basket" Picnic
next Thursday, Aug. 11, at Weston Station
on the Barclay railroad. The train will start
from Barclay Station at 10:50 A.M. Children
of the Sunday School free. Tickets for all
others over 14 years of age, 30 cents for the
round trip. All citizens who would like to
unite in the picnic are cordially invited to
do so. The children will be at the Baptist
Church at 10 o'clock A. M.

This Excursion is very cheap. There is no change
of cars. It gives you over seven hours to go through
the most remarkable Glen in ail this region "round
about," and return liome the same evening You

or you can stop at the Glen Park Hotel, one of the
finest in the State, located at the foot of the Glen,
and get a first-class dinner at any hour, and Free
Bus for guests of the Hotel to and from Depot, for
75 cents.
