The Niagara Falls Excursion is looking
very promising and the Managers are confi
dent of success. The weather promises settl.
Ed fair, and a very pleasant excursion and
thoroughly enjoyable day is anticipated.
The ride through the charming country,
through which the railroad passes, will only
be the excelled for sight-seeing, by the grand
scenry about the Falls.
Prospect Park is quite a resent added at
traction. The Park coutains about eleven
acres of original forest, and it embraces the
best views of both the American and Canada
Falls to be obtained on this side of the river;
and, besides, views from the river bank below
the Falls tnat are not visible from any other
place. The Excursion party will find in the
Large Pavilion perfect protection from the
elements, with large opportunities fQr dancing
recitations, singing, etc. Hot and cold water,
and outside refreshment rooms, will be found
to add to the pleasure and convenience of
visitors, without cost.
The Inclined Railway carries visitors to the
edge of| the| river below the Falls, where a
sublime yiew of the American Fall can be
had from its base. A passage has beon open
ed by which visitors may pass under, the
shadow of the Rock behind the American
Fall, as far as their inclination may prompt*
and there behold a spectiele unequalled for
grandeur by any other at present known to
the most intrepid and adventurous explorer
from the nurricane bridge (in front of Amer
ican Fall) may be seen the spray-cloud.
During the afternoon when the skies are
bright, and the direction of the wind is down
the river, the spectator may behold a Marvel
ous Picture by "Nature's own cunning hand''
in colors of red, orange and violet, reflected
and reflected by the spray-beads of the as
cending cloud.
Guide, dressing-room, waterproof and Bath
ing dresses for Ladies and Gentlemen will be
found at the foot of the Railway.
From the foot of the inclined railway will
be found the Ferry to Canada which has been
in operation more than fifty years without
the occurrence of any accident. The view
from the barges while crossing the river s
esteemed the grandest of all.
Goat Island divides the American and Can
ada Falls, and Is approached by a bridge over
the rapids above the Falls. From the head
of the Island a fine view of the rapids and up
the river may be had.
The Art Gallery embraces several hundred
representations of the most notable scenes of
European and Oriental history, churches, Pal
aces, lakes, rivers, mountains, naval and land
encounters, etc., etc., all enlarged microscop
ically, and so arranged that one hundred per
sons may at the same time be pleasantly oc
cupied in their examination.
The grounds, fountain and falls will be
lighted every evening, inclemeut weather ex
cepted, by the largest of Brush's dynomo
electric machines. Visitors will be afforded
an opportunity of beholding the sublime and
novel effects of the reflected light upon the
water and the electric bow painted upon the
sp ay-clouds of the American fall and its sur
surroundings.
The above is embraced in excursion tickets
which can only be purchased [of the manag
ers on the train at $1.25. Be sure and fur
nish yourself with these tiekets before ar
riving at the Falls, otherwise you will have
to pay full fare.
Mr. BABCOCK, the ticket agent of the P. FC
iN. Y. li. R. has the tickets for sale and in
nfonns us that he would carry some with
him, so that they can be obtained of him
without going specially to the railroad sta
tion.
The Exstensive Rosery and Nursery House
of R. G. Chase & Co., of Geneva, N. Y., is
represented in Towanda and vicinity by Mr. J.
T. MOORE, of Ithaca. This is one of the oldest
and most reliable Nursery Concerns in the
State of New York. Their large and increas
ing trade is due solely to their honorable
method of doing business. Many of our best
citizens will cheerfully testify to the very
satisfactory manner of their dealings with
them in the past, always receiving their or
ders in the best condition and True to name.
Parties giving Mr MOORE their orders can do
so with the utmost confidence. We bespeak
for him a large patronage.
Say you pay $4 95 for a ticket to Niagara
Falls, good Aug. 9, and 50 cents for your din
ner at the Spencer House, then add $1 25 for
a ticket to all places of interest. The insig
nigcant sum of $6 70 will cover the expense
of the entire trip.
