GENERAL ORDER No. 7.
The Legislature at its last session passed a furth
er supplement to the Militery ('ode of Pennsylvania,
which has been promulgated by General Orders
No. 9, from Head-quarters National Guard of Penn
sylvania.
The following are among the provisions of the
said Act, approved June Bth, 1SS1:
1. That there shall be held once in every year an
encampment of the National Guard, not to exceed
eight days duration at such time and place as the
Commander in Chief shall direct; the annual in
spection by the Adjutant General, shall be made
during said encampment; the troops shall he en
titled to transportation, and subsistence, and be
paid for five days only, as follows : Ist. Sergt, $3 00;
Bergts. §2 00; Corporals §1 75; musicians and
privates, §1 50 per day. Companies shall lie in
spected during the month of April or May, of each
year, at their company rendezvous, for which no
pay is allowed.
2. Sections 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15, of said
Act reads as follows:
That any soldier failing to appear upon any oc
casion of duty to which lie shall he ordered, by his
proper commanding officer shall he subject to trial
by such Court Martial as the Brigade Commander
may direct, and upon conviction, failing to render
ginnl and sufficient cause therefor, shall lie sentene- 1
id to pay a line not exceeding twenty five dal'lars,
or upon his failure to pay such tine within twenty
days, to a term of imprisonment not exceeding
thirty days, as sueli Court Martial may direct.
SECTION 9. That when the lines or dues imposed I
by the Company By-Laws, shall amount in the ag
gregate to five dollars, the person delinquent may
be prosecuted before a regimental or battalion
Court Martial, and upon his conviction or failure to
present a satisfactory excuse, lie shall he sentenced
to pay the same, or on his failure so to do, within
twenty days after such sentence, to undergo an im
prisonment not exceeding live days.
SECTION 10. Every arm. uniform and equipment
issued by the State, shall he used only in the dis
charge of military duty, and any non-commissioned
officer or private, who shall willfully or wantonly,
injure or destroy any uniform, arm, equipment or
other property belonging to the State, or the regi
ment or battalion, or company, and refuse to make
good such injury or loss, or who shall sell, dispose
of, secrete or remove the same with intent to sell
or dispose thereof or who shall fail within six days
after being notified to return the same to the Stsre
or commanding officer, shall be tried by Court
Martial, and sentenced to pay a Hue of not more
than fifty dollars, or undergo an imprisonment in
the county jail of not more than sixty days, and all
clothing, camp and garrison equipments, ordnance,
ordinance stores and quartermaster stores issued by
the Stale or fabricates from material issued by the
State, and charged against the company allowance,
or for which commutation lias been paid, shall be
the property of the Btate of Pennsylvania.
SECTION it. If any person shall knowingly and
willfully purchase or receive in pawn or pledge,
any arm, accoutrement, article of military clothing,
or equipment, tent or fly or any quartermaster or
ordinance store, the property of the State of Penn
sylvania, he shall he guilty of misdemeanor and
being convicted thereof in any Court of Quarter
Sessions of the proper counties, shall lie sentenced to
an imprisonment not exceeding one year and a tine
not exceeding three hundred dollars.
SECTION 12. The publication according to milita
ry usage of the printed or written orders, from or
through regiment or battalion headquarters, by the
company commander, or proscribed in the by-laws,
announcing tlie duty to he pel formed, shall be suf
ficient warning to the otlieer or soldier directed to
perlorm such duty.
SECTION 13. That military duty shall require the
attendance of commissioned officers, non-commis
sioned officers, musicians and privates on all occa
sions of drills, parades, encampments and active
service ordered by the commanding officer of the
c imp,my, regiment battalion, brigade, division of
the commander-in-chief or provided for by the com
puny by-laws, unless excused therefrom by the of
ficer having authority to grant such excuses; ang
that while on suh duty, or going to or returnind
from the same, obedience shall he rendered to all
uiies, regulations usages, customs and requirements
fo the army of the United Btates and of the code
and regulations of the Btate of Pennsylvania.
BECTION 14. All tines and penalties imposed and
collected through the sentence of court-martial shall
he paid to the (Secretary of the Commonwealth.
BECTION 15. That the keepers and wardens of all |
county jails are required to receive and confine all i
military offenders when delivered under the proper
certificate of commitment of general or regimental
court-martial or u held officer's court.
11. Attendance at drills, parades, encampments
and such duty as is required by company by-laws
is now demanded of ail who are members of the
National Guard, and those who do not render such
service will be dealt with as provided in above sec
tions.
HI. For the benefit ofthecommand,it is annount- j
ed that the Annual Encampment for 1881 will proba j
bly !>" held at Wilkes Barre or Danville and contiu- |
ue for about seven days between the lffili and 25th j
of August. All members of the company should
make the necessary and proper arrangements to he |
able to render such service, since none can now be I
excused unless for sickness. The captain is rcquir- j
ed to account for all men on the rolls under oath j
and all meti not present at tire coming encampment j
and inspection, will be reported absent wit/tout !
leave , unless excused on account of sickness or ah- I
scnce from the Btate.
IV. Each man in the company shares in the cred
it of receiving a good report for the company at the
next inspection and the commander therefore urges
the attendance at all regular and special drills in or
der that the company may equal if not excel in
diili and discipline, any company in the Guard
V. All the members of the company will lie re
quired to attend rifle practice during the season,
and if not in attendance on the regular days ap
pointed for practice, will lie required to attend at
such special practice as may he fixed hereafter.

Armory on Saturday, July 23d, at one o'clock sharp
in full uniform for rifle practice,andc iassification at
100, 200 and 500 yards.
